Another noob cab question

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been playing on and off for 35 yrs but am a "noob" here. And glad that I found this wealth of knowledge. I am wanting to bi-amped after a yr going single with a GK 800rb and SVT-410 HLF. Love the sound but looking for more botttom. I have played(and liked very much) Mesa RR 1x15 but am curious about the Ampeg Pro Neo 115 HLF--just no option to play it locally. Any or ideas would be appreciated.

how are you going to get more bottom than a 410 hlf can give you? it's the most bottomy bass cab on the market imho. oh sure, maybe you can stack a second one and add a 3 db low end boost, which is pretty significant, but there just isn't any 115 on the market that can compare for low end, and the 410's will bury a 115 for volume. i'd say stick with what you've got or double it.

You'll probably want to consider another head. The 800RB has a significant roll off in the low end. I actually dig that myself but if you're looking for more lows, you'd probably like some of GK's other offerings or something from another brand entirely.

Thanks for the input and have considered the double stack. Just wanted to get opinions from players who have used more amp/cab combos than I have. Need to spend more time in the city and BIG superstores to try more equiptment.

I would hazard a guess that your head is the culprit as well. I chose that Ampeg cab for the low end response and have not been let down. Best head I have put on it is an Ampeg SVT-CL. Really liked that pairing.

Get a quality 18, you'll get some more thump!

than a 410 hlf? i'd have to doubt that one, honkin'. that 410 hlf goes extremely low.

I think you'll experience some more low end if you engage the contour switch and boost your "Lo" eq a little.

What about using a 210 on top of the 410 hlf to help add some definition?
