I'm getting a Christmas bonus and I thought I'd use it to upgrade my amp. I currently use a Gallien Krueger MB115 combo, and it's been pretty good to me, but the DI has been giving me trouble and I think I want more than the 200W it offers. I'm looking in the $500 to $700 range. I play a P bass in a country/blues/rock band, and I need something that has a reliable DI for bigger venues with PA, and can still hold its own in a no-PA situation.

wattage doesnt equal volume. Look for something with more speaker area if you are looking for more volume. That being said, shop for a used half stack with a 410 cab. You will get a lot more for your money.

I’ve been driving two GK MB115’s combos that I’m planning on selling soon - and I’m leaning towards the Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0 paired up with the Barefaced Super Fifteen. This may be a little over your budget - but still worth at least checking out.
