| | | | Any good Aluminum cone 2x10 Cabs?

I was considering a Hartke Model 2.5XL cab to sit on top of my 1x15 cabinet. Now I see that this cabinet is no longer available, replaced with the 210XL.
Any good cabs of this type still available? |

| | | | I saw Victor Wooten recently playing thru a Hartke 4x10 cab, doubtful it is an 80s fad. |

Frankly, I'd say the Hartke Hydrives are well worth checking out before summarily dismissing. |

| | | | the 2.5xl is a great sounding cab imo.
also the 210xl did not replace the 2.5xl;
as it was around before(and after) the 2.5.
imo the only reason victor is playin' the hydrives
is because it's the newest offering.
i much prefer the xl and pro cabs to the hydrives.
it is sad(sorta) that i will not own any of these cabs
though as i refuse to own MIC music gear.
if mr hartke brought production to the US i would
own a wall of XLs

Sidenote: I recall several earlier threads / post where a handful of Hartke owners favored running their rigs with Gallien-Krueger heads. Don't know if that was based on performance, price, and/or availability.

That was years back though.. I prefer a DIY approach anyway, and Eminence does have the Basslite CA2010 in the catalog. Aluminum cone, neo motor 150W rating. Response graph looks like a bad EKG, but it does model out pretty nicely in about a 3.2cu.ft. vented cab for (I just rechecked, one) Too big of a footprint for your 15 though. On the other hand, thats the beauty of DIY. You can build'em to fit.. Vertically stack em, and you'll have the techies smiling at ya...lol...
Was just thinking you'd probably want the aluminum 10's for the top end.. I haven't modeled these in a sealed cab, but I'm sure the cab would be much smaller and probably more in line w/what you're looking for. If you have a modeling program shoot for a Q of just under 1...

The old ported 2.5xl was a great cab (I still own one), the sealed box 210xl (got this one too) is a different beast and not in the same league. I think it was conceived way back when bi-amping was more popular and it's okay for that coupled with a decent 115. But it's not really a full range cab with any punch down low. The 2.5xl does work just fine on its own - it's a shame they discontinued it. Heavy as heck though for a 210.

Any good cabs of this type still available? | Try a 210XL, I did.
It would go well with that 115XL.
