Any idea why Hartke amps aren't sold at Guitar Center?

I'd like to purchase a Hartke amp at Guitar Center, because GC generally runs this $100 off any purchase of $499 or some similar type of deal.
Do you think Sam Ash or zzounds.com would honor the same coupon that GC offers?

GC??

Sam Ash sells Hartke. Pretty much their main line. At least in Edison NJ.

Because Samson owns and makes Hartke. Samson is a Sam Ash company, owned by the Ash family. GC is their biggest competitor. So Hartke is a Sam Ash exclusive, and the Ash family will never sell to GC.

I found some studio monitors cheaper on a different website and zzsounds honored the price and knocked it down an extra couple dollars too. Check with them.

Hmm, I didn't know that. GC won't even take Hartke in for trade. Now I know why, thanks.

Did Sam Ash honor Guitar Center's $100 off coupon?

Never new the Samson / Ash connection; very interesting.
I would think that the Ash family would be thrilled to sell Samson products to anyone that would pay the normal dealer pricing though.
Was hoping that the answer was that Mr. Hartke didn't want to sell his soul the the evil GC empire

I heard that Larry Hartke as a passionate champion of bass players everywhere has refused to have his fine amps sold in GC stores everywhere after hearing how they treat bass players and bass gear.

This message has been endorsed by Larry Hartke and the Larry Hartke for President Council of Greater Lower Falls Wisconsin.

I've also heard that Larry Hartke sneaks into the closest GC any chance he gets and steals the knobs off of any unattended amp or bass.

This message has not been endorsed by Larry Hartke and the Larry Hartke for President Council of Greater Lower Falls Wisconsin.

That's quite a coincidence, since I hear that Larry's Mom's nick name for him is Funky Munky.

Hartke had a pretty big presence in the mom & pop chains, they probably didn;t want to lose that just to have to deal with GC. As far as other chains honoring GC coupons, why would they - the reason you are in their store is that they already offer you something GC doesn't ... margins are pretty slim in retail already ....
