Searching turns up a bit of info in the Yorkville/Traynor thread and a couple threads like this one that went unanswered...
Any experience with or opinions on the DB300 or 300T from Traynor?
300w combo with internal 2x8 or 1x12 speaker - matching 1x2 ext cab available. Long & McQuade - Traynor DynaBass 300 - Combo Bass Amp Long & McQuade - Traynor DynaBass 300T - Low-Profile 350-watt Tilit-Back Combo
L+M has them marked down by approx $300 of new price (950ish to 650ish)...
have tried them in stores - but curious how they sound in a band setting....wouldn't expect them to carry the room without ext cab....but like the idea of using it as a monitor in PA situations....and rehearsals...

I've tried both the 2x8 and the 1x10 a few times. Like 'em both, but prefer the twin as it sounds a little tighter, and can tilt back. Both are nice and light, easy to schlep around.
On its own, it does great for rehearsal in a 7-piece latin/rock band. Also tried it for a smallish outdoor gig with great results. Tried it with the 1x10 extension cab at another gig in a medium-sized hall and it was waaaaaay more than I needed, but lots of pants-flapping fun.
These things are a steal at the current price. |

How do you find the depth of that 2x8? I like the tilt back option on it - but thought they had voiced the cab a tad thin....
you find it plenty thick/supportive?

Personally I prefer a tube front end (like the Dynabass 400/800), but that's no slight to the 300 head or combo. I wish they made a 2x8 cab as a stand alone though - I'd be all over it.
If you think you need more power and would be looking at an extension cab anyway, then what about considering the DB400 head (on sale now for 549, also a great price), and then grabbing a TC210NEO cab, or a TC115NEO, depending upon your own driver preference. Sure, you'd be spending a little more $$$ than the combo, but probably less than if you were getting an extension cab too.
Finally, consider buying used. I just picked up a TC112 used for an absolute steal, and the thing was in mint shape - I wouldn't have known it from new if I hadn't been told so. There are lots of great deals to be had through L&MQ, I love those guys!
One last thing - I have no concerns with the bottom end I get from my TC112, and I play a 5 string. My guess is that the combos do a great job too.

If you get one of the combos, be sure to report back! |

The DB300T I thought was great for upright bass, but a bit thin for louder electric settings.
The 300s (whiche are 350W, btw) are voiced more neutral IME. I never loved their bigger bass amps, but these are winners. |

I found it plenty powerful with a lot of midrange presence. I had to cut the low mid quite a bit to avoid a boxy distorted tone. but once I did, it sounded great. I ran it with a TC210, a TC115 individually and as a stack. Then ran it with my TC412. Boy it roared with THAT cab! I recommend you get the head and a TC cab. It won't disappoint. The 2x8's tend to not be able to handle all the power this head has to offer. |

I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I was pretty happy with the depth, and it just fit in sooo nicely in a band setting. True, adding the extension cab really fattened things up, but even on its own was really good. |

L&MQ has really reasonable rates for single day rentals of the Traynor cabs. Then, down the line, you can pick one up when finances permit. |
