Anyone add a horn to a Ampeg 115E cabinet?

A friend played through my Foster horn equipped Ampeg PF-115HE cabinet.

He "loved" the hi-end that the horn added to the sound.

His personal cabinets are Ampeg SVT-15E Classic cabinets, (these cabinets have a 15" driver, no horn.)

He's thinking of ordering from Ampeg the crossover and horn that comes in the PF-115HE cabinet and installing them into his SVT-15E Classic cabinets.

Has anyone made this mod to their 115E cabinets?

How'd it turn out????

The industri standard Foster / Fostex horn is not a stellar performer and is probably selected by manufacturers due to price. I would suggest that you look at for instance Selenium (used in EBS cabinets but still not expensive!), Beyma, RCF or even Eminence.
It might turn out to be no more expensive than genuine Ampeg spare parts but will definitely give you cleaner, more even and appealing reproduction of your instrument and will integrate better with the 15" you have today as these drivers can go lower and not leave a big gap between the 15" and the horn.
