NOT the route I want to take, but I'm needing a better 810 or 610. GC online has good prices occasionally, but I'm reluctant for obvious reasons. But, no one wants to ship an 810 from TB Forums, again for obvious reasons. But, it appears I can have a cab shipped to another GC for no add'l cost. At least it doesn't show up in the cart when I go thru the purchase process.
Just curious if anyone has ever tried this and what the experience was overall. I know GC can be hit-or-miss, but the GC near my house is decent overall.

| | Resistance is not futile -- it's voltage/current. | | | | | I just bought a Genz Benz NEOX-112T cab from the GC in Marietta, GA, and had it shipped to me in Illinois. Super easy transaction, great customer service from Brandon Mullens, the manager in Marietta, and I received it quickly and in great condition. I would not hesitate to purchase this way again.

Anyway, asked about condition and such, and it arrived exactly as described. He also said that if it didn't meet the description he gave, that I could return it to my local Guitar Center so I wouldn't have to ship it back.
Took them a couple of days to actually ship it out (needed to find a good box), but it got here. Overall a good experience. |

FYI, I wasn't charged shipping on either of my amp purchases, and those suckers are HEAVY (Peavey VB-2 tube head as well as a Fender Bassman 250 combo amp).

Additional benefits: someone will be there to receive it (instead of it being left unattended on your doorstep), and if there was any shipping damage it can be documented before you leave the store. |

Turns out it had a bad preamp so I returned it to my local GC for a refund. GC has a great return policy. It's nice to buy online and return at any store to avoid any shipping charges.

The description was little generous as to condition, but I figured it would be, hahaha, so the guitar was as I thought it would be, more or less. I don't necessarily love GC, but the return policy is unbeatable so it's a good choice for used. If you don't like it, you just eat store-to-store shipping (15 bucks in my example).

They ship UPS straight to your house, usually for freesies. I have had a heavy combo amp and super heavy all tube head shipped to my house from different GCs and everything has been kosher. If anything goes wrong or you just aren't satisfied you can return it to your local GC too. It's a pretty sweet deal.

The store manager at that store dropped the ball, but the store manager in Akron made it right and gave me a new unit for the used price.
Seems like a good system if it works, cause they ship it right to your house, you don't have to go back to the store to pick it up.

The guy I dealt with, Wade, was not only very helpful but a bass player as well. The amp arrived in MI double boxed and bubble wrapped...you could have fit 3 amps in the box! After all the bad press GC gets I was pleasantly suprised to have such a good experience. |
