Anyone change out tubes in Aggie DB 750?

Just wondering if anyone has ever changed out the 12AX7s in their Aguilar DB750? Something I've thought of doing for a while to get a better level tone out of it. Right now find it to be sort of bass heavy. Also I am an eternal tweaker and urged to tweak every piece of gear I own. Also I think it may be time to get them changed out with new ones.

There are lots of threads, here's a big one:

Actually, I recently tried the infamous V1 upgrade to a vintage Telefunken 12AX7 smooth plate. Actually, it did change the tone alot! However, made it more solid state to me. Sounds good, but now deviates more from a vintage SVT than before. I want to get back to more of the SVT vibe with the DB750.

What is the best tube option for adding grind, warmth, etc?

I've got NOS Telefunken ECC83 selected (medical grade) in V1 and V2, a JJ Tesla 12AX7 in V3, and a NOS Siemens 12AU7 in V4. The only swap that made a significant difference was the Telefunken in V1. Save your coin on the others.

The Tele in V1 "shaves off the wool," which I like. It's just a tighter sound. If you like tube-related wooliness, then don't waste your money. The tubes can cost over $100 a pop.

Yes I found I'm in the wooly camp then after trying a good tele myself in V1. Actually I tried looking up wooly in the definition section and couldn't find anything?

Maybe for live I'll want the tele back.

Well, I solved my search. I kept the telefunken in V1. I used an AGRO pedal - this cleaned it up, added grit, and improved the dynamics. perfect. now sounds like an svt on roids. cant wait for the gig next week
