Anyone ever seen an Ampeg 4X15 cab?

Sign in to disble this ad
It's about the height of an 8X10 but considerably deeper. I got it off of craigslist from someone that knew nothing about it. There are speakers in it, but I don;t know if they are original and it is missing a piece of the back. I can't find any info about this at all! Help!

Sounds like a V4 2x15 cab. I don't think Ampeg made a 4x15. I could be wrong though.

This. Trust me, you could not fit 4 15's in a cabinet the size of an 8x10.

Acoustic 408 is one cab that fits that description. I'm not sure if Ampeg ever made a cab like it though.

Lucky, sorry about my lack of pics...still! I am at the mercy of my guitar player and you know how lazy they can be

It is definitely a 4X15 and I am 99.9% sure it said Ampeg. It was similar enough to my 8x10 (Ampeg) that i didn't question that it was an ampeg. There is a small possibility that it is a custom made cabinet made with Ampeg regalia. I have been playing for 35 years and have used the Accoustic 4X15 when they were new, so I am positive it is not that.

It is definitely a bass cab and is as tall as my 8X10 but with 4 15s and deeper. They are staggered, but contrary to 5string5fingers, there are definitely 4 15s in it.

I guess it could be a V4B that someone has pulled the horn out of as I have never seen one that I am aware of.

I will push the guitar player for pics again

Never seen a 4x15 cab of ANY kind, let alone Ampeg, but I imagine it would be big enough that it would be impossible to miss...

OK, let me eat a little crow...it isn't 4X15 but 4 12s. Everything else I said is accurate (yeah right). It says ampeg, is 26" wide X 26" deep X 4 feet tall.

I need to know what the original speakers were and maybe a wiring diagram...

Thanks again guys.

The Acoustic 4x15s had two "hidden" fifteens in the center port, so you've probably seen them and didn't even realize it was a 4x15.

---

Then there are Green (Matamp) and Emperor 4x15s...

Sorry to hear it's just a 4x12 (still an awesome cab), but that doesn't matter.

I want to see your 8x18 Ampeg.

That better be one hell of a typo.

fu22: Those aren't cabinets. Those are acoustic weapons.

Not 4x15 but there is some monster of cabinet floating around in some pics here. Iwsh I could remeber it, It was something like 8x10, 2x15, 2x12, maybe some 8s and an 18 too? It looked 12 feet tall.

I want to see pictures of THAT!

BTW, four 12s and a "missing back" sounds more like a guitar cab to me!

Once I get it wired back up correctly, I am going to biamp it and my 8X10 with my SVT4Pro, which should pretty much make everyone immediately deaf!

Peavey made a 4x15 back in the late 80s. It was marketed as a sub cab for a pa cab that held 2x15, 2x10, and a hf horn. Those cabs were about 36x36x18 IIR. I did see a pair of them stacked with a Peavey Max head (2x400w rms @4 ohms)
