I have 2 3015's, anyone ever try one with it? Please, no lectures on the original idea, I understand. Someone must have tried this by now.

They are different speakers for different purposes. Try it, the lectures speak the truth.

JBA:

It is extremely unlikely that anyone has tried what you are asking due to the plethora of reasons to not do it. (If I were to list the reasons, I would be entering lecture territory, which is prohibited by your original post.)

If someone replies and says "hey, yeah man, I tried it, and it works great", please do yourself a favor and do not believe them.

There are other cab designs that work very well with the 3015 (non-LF) version as a standalone driver (no mid driver and no crossover).

The 3015 and the 3015LF are entirely different animals. They are both speakers, but that's where the similarity ends.

Greenboy or Alex Claber or Bill Fitzmaurice might choose to chime in on this thread.

This was the spring board. It is exactly as I inquire, only with a superior driver. Carvin.com :: LS1503

They both are also 15" in diameter, hence, another similarity.

There are tons of reasons to cross in a high powered mid on top of the 3015.

Definitely a good idea. But it doesn't want as big a box or as low a tuning as a fEarful, or the same crossover.

Stick a non-LF 3015 speaker in a TL606 type cab. It works well in those.

The fEarful 15/6 dimensions would not be ideal for the non-LF.

I would not build a 3 way using the 3015 unless it was being driven by less than 300 watts. In that circumstance the higher sensitivity of the 3015 compared to the 3015LF would be beneficial, while the lower xmax would not be an issue.

The 606 is also not ideal for the 3015. It works, but it's not optimal.

Not ideal, but a 3015 sounds much better in an Orange OBC115 cab (same dimensions as a TL606) than the stock Kappa Pro 15A speaker.

Do any of your cab designs include non-LF 3015? I recall that a lot them incorporate the LF + crossover.

The Jack 15 uses the 3015.
