Vintage Amp : 60's Ampeg

This guy didn't list the wattage or the model. Is it in pretty bad condition?

I wouldn't count on it for my main amp. Would be nice to have at the house, but that's it.

If I was closer I'd be all over it. Solid state late 60's Ampeg Portaflex Fliptop with 2 15s. Very cool and you don't see them a lot. That one appears to be in pretty good shape. Price is reasonable too. There is more info in the portaflex thread, but I think it's around 60 watts. I have the same head (BT-15) with a 1x15 cab - it sounds awesome.

That one in particular looks to be in good shape.

That is an Ampeg portaflex BT-15C circa '67-'68. It should be 100 watts solid state, and most likely has a pair of CTS speakers. The front panel lights up blue like the dashboard of a car. I have one of these, and it's one of my favorite sounding Ampegs. This particular one has the double silver piping around it which you don't see very often. Great amp at a more than fair price. I wouldn't use it to gig with a super volume death metal band, but for anything with reasonable volume levels it should work very well.

One thing to note if you get this - inside the cab is a shelf which divides the cab into two compartments. I would recommend removing the shelf, because it was once lined with strips of foam rubber to help dampen vibration. Over time the foam deteriorates, causing the shelf to vibrate and buzz quite badly. When I got mine, the store selling it thought it had blown speakers - when it was really just that shelf rattling. Removing the shelf doesn't really affect the sound - if anything it just frees up a little more surface area for the triangular ports.
