Just curious if anyone here has any experience with the Swedish company EBS....I read some great reviews about them.

I've got two of their pedals and they are excellent. A bit expensive but flawless craftsmanship and performance.

My whole rig consist of EBS TD 660 and Neoline 210 and 212. The head gives you a really nice compressor that kicks a*s for slapping and you also get a bright setting which you can dial in for that extra sizzle on top for brightness. Gives you some choice in parametric eq in the midrange. As for the cabs theyre in the midrange area which is perfect for me and i can dial in lows if i want but remember %90 percent of tone comes from your bass

The Ebs gear I had was top notch. In general i like trying everything so i changed it up since then. I would be 100% confident to buy again though.

I have the EBS Drome Classic 12 and I absolutely love it. I always get comments about how good it sounds and how loud it is. Wish I could afford more EBS gear.

Tal Wilkenfeld uses/endorses EBS. Check out her videos on You Tube and see if you like her tone. She also endorses Sadowsky basses.

Personally, not my tone. Really scooped mids.

That said, I have an EBS IQ that is built like a tank and performs well. All the components are high quality and it is built to last. BTW..it is expensive for a pedal.

EBS. Absurdly expensive and WORTH EVERY PENNY. While their cabinets are very good, the amps are just mind blowing. Absolutely the best thing I've ever heard.... and Ive used just about everything. While some of the older models were a tad shy on power (bearing in mind my rigs are usually 750+ watts and I'm running 1,800 watts right now)... the sound that comes out of these amps is insane. The first time I ever tried a FAFNER was the same sort of eye-opening experience as the first time I ever played a Bergantino NV610..... like "I never the bass could sound like that outside of a studio" sort of experience...

If you can afford them, do it.

I've had my EBS NEO-112 cabinet for a couple of years now, and it is AWESOME! Amazing tone. Incredibly well built. And light enough for me to work the NYC club circuit. Oh, and it gets plenty loud!

I am really surprised that for whatever reason EBS has not made greater inroads into the US bass market. They definitely seem to be much better distributed in Europe.

My first EBS was one of the original Drome combos, which I picked up in France when I was living there in the early 2000s. Amazing piece of gear. Best built-in compressor I've ever used. Very good tube emulation - which they don't really call tube emulation and really isn't exactly like a tube pre-amp, but a solid state saturation/distortion circuit that can be dialed in with great subtlety. Only 150W and 1-12", but I've played mid-sized clubs with it and needed no reinforcement. For larger spaces, I recently acquired one of their HD350 heads, which I've been playing at home through my old SVT 8x10 cab - sounds and feels awesome at a fraction of the weight of the vintage head - but it's waiting for a Neo 212 cab before I play out with it.

So, to confirm what others are saying, expensive, but very, very well-designed and built equipment with a modern sound that can be dialed from modern-jazz clinical to funk to rock. If you absolutely feel you need tube grit, and aren't obsessed with people hearing your instrument and/or technique transparently, they may not be for you.

There's nothing intrinsically mid-scooping about the EBS rig Wilkenfeld uses - it's just the sound she likes, and she can get it out of the EBS.

+1. Tal's sound is very Sadowsky to my ear, which IMO is a good thing.

I would guess what you hear is her bass through that Avalon pre anyways.

Used several of their amps and own a microbass II which I have used for years as my go to DI and pre/power gig setup, has always been solid and reliable with great tone. ps. their low/bass controls seem to center around 100hz and their cabs roll off pretty high if i remember correctly, so if you are into dub or super lows, probably not your bag, but their tight slap and finger sound is excellent
