Anyone Hear Of A Peavey Bassmaster?

Sign in to disble this ad
Figured I'd ask.

In my quest for a bigger amp, I got an e-mail thru CL. A guy is telling me he has a Peavey Bassmaster amp that is about 2 years old. Claims it's 250-300 watts.

I haven't heard of this model, although I don't know much about Peavey. Did a google search and couldn't find it.

Any input? Or does the guy not know what this thing is?

BTW....no pic with the mail. Claims he paid $600 for it, bought it new for his nephew who played bass roughly 4 times and gave it up. Selling for $350.

I'm guessing he's not sure what it is because he spelled Peavey as "Pevey", so I don't think he's a player at all.

Sent him a note back asking for a model number or picture.

Is it a boat? Or a fishing pole?

Guy sent me a note back. He says it's a Peavey TNT 115S combo.

He wants $350 for it (used), seems steep based on what I've read.

Not sure it's the amp for me based on what I've read.

If you're patient you can find those for $100 in great condition. This economy sucks if you're selling gear but it's great for buyers.

Yep he's dreaming if he thinks he can get 350 for an old 115S.

And what's with getting the model THAT far wrong? Bassmaster versus 115S? Makes me suspicious what else might be goofy with any transaction with that seller.

There are newer "Tour" TNT combo's that probably do run around that price new....you can find older ones for half that.

And yes, something screwy with getting the info that wrong. I usually check those out as sometimes you can get really nice stuff if people aren't familiar with it but in this case, I'd let it pass, unless it's an amp you really like. My guess would be it's one of the new ones, bought new for a kid that lost interest.....that's why you get them cheap starter packs at Christmas and here in a month or so, Craigslist will be littered with them.

To me, getting the name that far wrong would be like advertising "I have a Ford Camaro for sale!" then when you call they say its a Toyota Camry. ????

Was exactly the case here. Guy says he bought it as a present for a nephew who wanted to play bass but gave up shortly after starting. Don't think he knows much about equipment.

But that was, according to him, 2 years ago. Hasn't been played since then.

Right now the Carvin MB-15 is ranking high on my list......

But since Carvin sells direct there's no way to try one out unless you find one used somewhere.

Eden EGRW 264 is ranking right up there, too.......
