never heard of it till just now. looks like an old ss amp from the 60's. all i can find out about them is that they made a cool fuzz pedal people liked, and they're p2p wired on a pcb. while the 60's aren't exactly known as the golden age of solid state, there are some neat gems that pop up from time to time. going by looks, this may be one of them, and i'd at least go check it out.

Funny...I LIVED through the 60s and never heard or saw one of those....my guess would be that it was intended for the "surf" craze??

And to think that I always thought that bass players didn't have many "choices" back then.........

yeah, really...i get so sick of hearing from these kids on here that fender and ampeg were popular now because that's all you could get back then and everyone got used to the sound and that's why they're popular now. rubbish! there were plenty of choices. not like it is now, but there were still plenty of choices.

the only reason i look to fender/ampeg is because thats all i really know to be reliable, lately ive gotten into an "Off brand" phase, everything ive bought in the last 2 months has been an off brand, i like it

Rosac!

Ahh!!!

They were made by the guy who worked for/Was related to/Worked with Mosrite. I can't remember the EXACT relation to mosrite, but there was some.

I'm pretty sure.... I've seen one or two pop up on the infernal auction place and they are more or less like STANDEL's/Mosrite amps. Kinda neat solid state amps, that have an OK sound, as long as it isn't too bad.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat if it mostly worked and wasn't too much.

... I'm into old stuff like that, even if it was/is/and is now crap.

This is helpful.

How much is that amp in mention?

Amp

I work at a Pawnshop in Ensenada, Baja California (México) and I spotted a Rosac Newport Deluxe (which seems to be a 2x8) with the original footswitch for around $40 Dollars.
Not sure if I should get it.
Here's a picture.

Jimmy,
Yeah, there certainly a whole slew of amps to choose from. Jordan's, Guild ThunderBass amps, Kustom, Bruce, Gibson's, Sunn, and eventually Acoustic's. The one thing that was different was that distribution of some of these amps was sometimes regional rather than national. I never saw a Jordan amplifier until the Association toured from California and used them. So sometimes you didn't see them in your local music store. Ampeg was arguably the most reliable though, and as a result got used by a lot of touring acts.

I believe there were more choices in the late '60s/early '70s than there are now. There were lots of smaller regional companies like this one, as well as major outlets like Sears and Montgomery Wards, Lafayette, Allied and even Radio Shack that sold their own branded amps. The main reason Fender and Ampeg of that era still have a lot of value today is that they simply sounded better and were more durable than most of the other brands.
