Anyone know of pro players that use a different brand amp head then their cabinet?

I am no longer playing professionally and never was on a national level or anything, but does anyone know of pro touring players that use one brand of amp head and a different brand of cabinet? Most of the guys I see have matching brands and probably due to endorsements. I was just wondering if there are some bigger name players that use mixed setup because it sounds better to them.

I just got a Genz Benz cabinet that I really like with my old Ampeg head, but I'm saving money for an Aguilar head. I think the Aguilar with the Genz Benz will sound fantastic and as I will probably never have to worry about an endorsement deal, I can do whatever I like!

You got it right when you said "due to endorsements".

Big name pro players use matching gear because they are paid to. If they weren't they wouldn't. It's as simple as that.

When I saw Chris Chew (North Mississippi Allstars) play his head and cabs didn't match. If I remember correctly he had an Aquilar head and Schroeder cabinets.

Justin Chancellor from Tool uses G-K amps and Mesa cabs.

Flea used to do the same.

Tim C used an Ashdown head into an Ampeg cab (in addition to his other two Ampeg rigs) in Audioslave.

David Wm. Sims from The Jesus Lizard ran a G-K head into Dietz cabs.

Colin Greenwood from Radiohead runs an Alembic pre into a G-K head into an Ampeg cab.

Andrew Weiss in Rollins Band ran a G-K amps into Hartke cabs.

Tom Hamilton at least used to run G-K amps into Hartke cabs as well.

A lot of G-K amps on different brand cabs...

Steve Swallow uses a Walter Woods head and "whatever cabinets the venue rents for him." I've seen that shots/vids of that WW head sitting on top of Hartke cabs a couple of times.

Endorsements aside, many pro players use different brands. I often play for national artists when they don't bring there band and supply backline for others. Most common request is for a SWR Goliath cab and either an Eden WT800 with any 410 cab or a GK amp.

As far as the Aguilar and GB matchup. It depends... my DB750 is sonically not the best matchup for my neo 212t. On the other hand I really like it with the TH500

When we played with the Toadies last year, Doni Blair was using an Ampeg 810 and an Acoustic B600H.

I see a ton of bassists using an Ampeg 810 cab with another brand of amp.

No, he has endorsement deals with maytag, kenmore and wolfgang puck....I just can't remember who does amps, who does cabs and who does chickens.

Matt Sharp (Early/GOOD Weezer) ran an Orange Matamp and a Gallien Krueger 800RB into an Ampeg 810. Flea and Tim Commerford also came to mind but they were already listed.

Most metal bands I've seen an played with use mismatched cabs and heads.

I think that is probably because they like the gear, not because the tags match.

I read somewhere that he uses a Glockenklang amp for recording.
