Maybe the question today would be are there any major bass amp companies *not* making a Class D power head?

It's a 1 rackspace unit, nothing unusual there.

PL 380. Might be more than you need. Don't get hung up on Class D, there are other lightweight options. It's mainly a switching power supply that gives light weight.

my bad for not being more specific

I'm looking to replace my QSC PLX series with something lighter but not necessarily more compact.

Weight is the deal maker here.

If it fit into the same rack space as the 1604, that would be even better.

Looks like the CARVIN DCM1000L would work just fine. Anyone used one yet?

It's for the '59 Bassman Faux Ten rig:

Thanks

Am I missing something?

The XLS series doesn't appear to be much of a weight savings.

Thnx....found it: Drivecore Series

$300 plus tax, no local shipping necessary

I could try one for a couple of weeks and take it back if I don't like it.

Cool, I have an XLS 2500 driven by a Tonehammer pedal.

But as you pointed out, the Crown and Carvin options aren't very much lighter than your QSC?

I was looking at the wrong Crown.

They're both very much lighter than the QSC.

Looks like I might be trying the Crown option.

couple of neo 15's

one closed/one open

mids and highs from the open
lows from the close

I just use it as a stage monitor and run the Tech21 direct

major props to members here for the metal Bassman tags

There was some discussion here regarding whether or not the cabs would work:

The lightest class D power amp that I'm aware of that will fit in that space is the Peavey IPR series--only 7 pounds.

The Peavey IPR comes in two power ratings as well, the IPR1600 (I have two in the PA rack and have been wonderful) and the IPR3000.
