Anyone run 2 combo's using something like this?

Radial BigShot AB-Y true bypass switcher

I've got a GK MB115 and I'm thinking of picking up a second one and trying this.

Guess not?

Stupid question? Redundant question?

Sounds like a worthy idea to me. One amp with effects the other dry? Besides, if one amp took a crap on you, you'd still have a backup.

Not really, instead of buying 2 low-powered amps with a external pedal, I'd rather have just 1 high-quality amp. The single high-quality amp would probably be less expensive and better sounding too.

I use this box with an Ampeg B100R and a B50R - sounds great, and does what it says, but it does alter the tone of your "B" amp somewhat. Not a big deal IMHO - I just tweak the EQ a bit.

i just use a morley myself...i know some snobs are against it because it's cheaper than the radial, but i like it just fine. you can achieve some really great tones if one of your amps is a guitar amp with the lows rolled off.

I had an MB115 and considered doing the same thing. Both amps together would be about 70lbs. It would be a 400 watt, 2x15'' amp. Should handle most anything.

The Radial was a must for me because of the isolation transformer to kill hum. The phase reversal is a nice feature, too. I also run a Yamaha NE-1 Parametric in front of the whole mess, or sometimes a tube preamp.

Back in high school I used to use my MXR Bass DI + to run to a Peavey Basic 112 and Peavey TNT 115. It worked pretty well, and I thought it was the most epic thing ever.

I ran 2 mesa walkabout scout 12 combos for a while. One for clean bass with a boomerang and one for soloing with a guitar pedal. It was nice to have the independent controls on the amp for each sound, but it was more cumbersome than it was worth. Try it though if you can. It's a fun way to hear your bass

I have the Morley like Jimmy mentioned and it worked with no issues whatsoever. Heard less than stellar things about the radial from some players ( mostly reliability ) so I passed on it, but I have no first hand exp with the radial.

Like D.A.R.K. I used to run a Boogie D180 and an SWR Silverado with a DOD Stereo Chorus, and it worked great. It produced a nice stereo chorus tone too.

Depending on the out options on the first amp in the chain you may not need a box of any sort unless you plan on switching between the two amps. I used go bass into amp A, line out of amp A to amp B with a couple of SWR Baby Blues. Worked well.

I run two Peaveys. The 115 bass combo and a Bam 210. I love this setup. I use a Whirlwind A/B box. I have never had a problem with it and I have owned it for a few years. Do different A/B box's make any difference?

Any phase / noise problems with the Whirlwind?

Good question, I am considering purchasing an ABY box, and would like to consider the Whirlwind or Morley. I was leaning heavily toward the Radial due to the iso. I don't want to deal with hum on noise.
