I've had this crazy idea to run three 2x10's
two 8-ohm and one 4-ohm.
My SVT 2-pro runs either 4 or 2 ohms, my BX500 will run, 8, 4 and 2 ohms
The above three-cab situation can be used in the following ways:
for BX-500
one 8-ohm @300 watts, one 4-ohm @ 500 watts, two 8-ohm (4-ohm lead) or two 8- and one 4-ohm for a 2-ohm total load
with SVT
two 8-ohm for total 4-ohm load, or all three for 2-ohm load. (I wouldn't want to run the SVT with one 2x10, although I could use the 4-ohm...I was once testing a 4-ohm 2x10 with the svt and somwhow got the amp to go into protect mode...never happened before, never happened again)
I currently have a Goliath II 4x10 and Goliath II jr 2x10, which I'm quite happy with.
I feel like trying something new, but not sure it's worth it.
I'd definitley want to get all 3 matching cabs, but it seems there are only a fistful of companies that do offer 4-and 8-ohm 2x10's, like Carvin (BR series), Avatar, SWR (though it might be best to get just two 8-ohm SWR 2x10's to match my existing one instead of buying 3 new ones...)
What are the chances it will sound better or worse than my current setup?

Unfortunately, for this to work ideally, you'd need either two or four 8 ohm 210's. Or three that somehow clocked in at 6 ohms. |

You could, if you wanted, just get three 8-ohm 2x10s for full-range use - I think that you can finagle a 2.6 ohm load from that, which is totally fine to run off a 2-ohm output.

Get three cabs rated at 8 ohms each, along with a high-powered head that's safe at 2 ohms - and will put out approximately 800 - 1,200 watts into an 8-ohm load.
Should sound very nice...

| | | or just get 3 4Ω 2x10 cabs and power them all with a fender 400-PS.

| | | | 3 8 ohm 310's work out to 2.67 ohms which either of your heads will do safely. The Carvin is limited at 500 watts below 4 ohms, so with that there's no reason to go all the way to 2 ohms.
