Anyone still gig with a 1x15 anymore? I have been pondering on getting a 4x10 cab...but then I remember how much I hated moving those things. I am thinking maybe I could get away with an 8 ohm 1x15. With my B2R I would get 250 Watts, and with my Acoustic B100 I would have an extra 15 to run it into. Plus a 1x15 wouldn't be such a pain to haul around. |
leave the b100 in the practice room, but a good 1x15 is a very cool thing. two matching good 1x15s is rock and roll! (for me it's a pair of compact LDS cabs with eminence kappa As in them.) |
I do. I have two Genz Benz Focus 115's, but I have never used them both yet. For small bar gigs I have just been using my GK MB200 into one Focus 115. I have an old Hartke 3500 head too, if I need more power. The Focus isn't neo or anything, but at 46 lbs not too bad. ![]() Full stack (so far just for looks) ![]() |
Yep..SWR Son of Bertha 1-15 with a GK RB400 to drive it. Perfect for small to medium gigs. |
Yes, I do most of my gigs with a Bag End S15 I. |
I do a 115 cab all the time...wonderful :) |
If you switch to 4x10 make sure you have enough power. Ur powering 4x as many speakers. I dont like powering 4x10's with anything less than a 350W amp.- thats just me. On the other hand you can get nice bass out of a 1x15 and 100W. If you try powering a 4x10 with ur B2R you have only 62.5 watts per speaker, which is fine but you will be wondering where ur low end went. because you have 4 speakers producing mids it can give you the illusion of thinning out in the low registers. Most guys who go from 15's to 10's always crank the bass up. I run a 15 and a 2x10 - best of both worlds. 2x10 or a 1x12 is alot easier than a 4x10 to move around. |
I do many gigs with my Ampeg BA115HP. |
1 Attachment(s) Ashdown MAG with an Eminence Legend CB158 |
Sometimes but I prefer two. |
Hartke LH500 or HA3500 with a Hartke HyDrive 115. |
Finally got back into a promising band. Carvin BR115 powered by GK 800RB. |
I use a Genz Benz Uber 115 or two all the time |
I use one for big gigs and a 1x12 for normal ones. |
I used to all a time. All I had was one EV TL606 cab with a EV 400w speaker. Now I sometimes use one of my 2 3015 Eminence modded Ampeg PF115HE's. Works great! |
I have used all sorts of cabs over the years but the overwhelming majority of ny gigs have been with a single 15. Current rig is a GK MB500 and an Ashdown VS-115. I have two VS-115s, but have only used both once. |
YES! Not always, but more often than not these days I gig with an 8ohm 115 TL606 (KappaLite), or a 4 ohm Carvin 115 (vintage Carvin/Eminence ceramic driver). |
I use a 115 combo, a Roland DB700, once a month at a little bistro gig I have. Works fine for that type of lower volume gig, with no PA support. |
Been using an old GK 115 for a while, on bigger gigs it's fine as i run a DI. But, im thinking about building a 215 cab. We have a medium sized acoustic gig that we do once a month, and since we only run the moniters as mains at this club i cant run through the board. I run my amp cranked to 90%+, and the cab is on the floor off stage left. Going 4 ohm would give me a little extra volume boost and a taller cab would get me up in the mix better. Right now i am thundergod of bass doom on the low end, but a little lacking in the mids and highs in most of that room. |
