Anyone tried an Eden EX112 yet?

Sign in to disble this ad
Interested if anyone has seen/played through either the 10" or 12" version of this cab.
http://www.eden-electronics.com/prod...ries/ex112.asp
Nice little uber-small cab at 300 watts at 4 ohms and only 13kilos (30 pounds) would match my Eden WTX500 nicely for small gigs.
Curious it doesn't show the frequency response on the webpage?
Hoping the tone is a little different from the D112XLT's though, as I found them to be too mid-bitey for my taste.
But to each their own...

Looks too small to have decent low end covering, I'd guess its mid-focused aswell.

The EX112 and D112XLT are totally different cabinets, so don't assume they sound alike.

Agreed. Too bad nobody has experience on what the differences actually are. I guess it's still too new..

I know the sound of the D112XLT's well, as I had 2 for a while with my WTX500, I am thinking the EX112's wont be tuned like the D112's -with their mid bite but I could be wrong.
I am envisioning them to be more like the Markbass New York 121 but with a little more bottom end and "flat" responce ( I find all Markbass cabs have a mid boost inherent in them)

Well, I pulled the trigger on one of these, and now its backordered until end of may!! The site showed stock available. I'm gonna hang in there and wait, and hopefully its worth it.

Slainey, looking at, it looks like a wizzy speaker/cone type of cab. If you can't find one I'd pop into Bass Gear Direct seeing your in Sydney and try out the Wizzy 12 M-Line - 4 or 8ohms. I think it will sound pretty close to the EX112 with probably more warmth and definition.

I played on one this past Friday paired up with a wtx264 and completely flat it was like buttah in the typical Eden sense. I didn't get much of a chance to really put it through the paces since the store closed 5 minutes after I sat down. But if I like what I hear this coming Friday when I get back to the city I'm trading in my old road gear (ampeg svt410hlf) for it since I don't have time to gig anymore.

I'll have a full review on it this weekend for you guys either way.

Was it the 10" or 12" that you played through?

It was the 12", and the manager claimed he was getting the 10" in in a week or two so maybe it'll be in by the time I go up this Friday!. I hope so anyway!

I happened to try both the 10" & the 12" paired with a wtx260 head this past Saturday. They sound freakin' great for what they are intended for. Really smooth and punchy little cabs. I personally liked the 12" better as I thought it just filled up the room a bit better although the 10" did honestly have a little better mid range response. I can tell you that the coaxial ex112 sounds absolutely nothing like the D112XLT (which I personally find to be an annoying sounding cabinet-too much mid range for my liking).

I'm very interested in review updates in this matter. I have an Acoustic Image Coda combo, and I´m thinking of getting a 4 ohms extension cab for getting more volume and bottom. I play both DB and EB. What do you think?

Edit: Just ordered a Mesa Boogie Scout 112.
