Anyone tried Markbass LMII with Orange Cabs?

Sign in to disble this ad
Just looking to see who has tried Markbass amps with Orange Cabs. I have the cmd 102p and am looking for an extension cab to go with it. Was wondering how the 1x15 Orange would work under the 2x10 combo. How would the sound differ as compared to another Markbass cab??

Also I play a G&L L-2000 with TI jazz flats if that helps!

Any thoughts are appreciated!

The B&C speakers in Markbass Cabs are well known for a little flashy midrange.
May be the orange gives you a bit more bottom. Have not tested them with my LM2.

But hey...you'll definitely need shades to have a look at your rig. What a combination of colours...

That's the only reason I was thinking of the Markbass/Orange combination...the looks. I could care less if they sounded good together!!!

Orange does make the 115 with black tolex which would be less flashy.

Anyway, interested in what others have to say. I have a MB 2x10 combo too and am curious.

I use a Markbass R500 w/ an Orange 15" and an SWR 2x10. Also with an Ampeg V4B.

Sounds great!

I'm under the impression the Orange cab will sound amazing with any head. Seriously. It's a great sounding cab.

I definitely interested to hear how the 2x10 and 1x15 would work together. Any sound clips by chance?

Ive used a LM3 with the OBC 115 and it was CREAMY! Quite a nice old fat oldschool tone, but with definition.

I'm quit intrigued by the combination of LMII and one of those new Orange 'isobaric' cabs. The ones with one speaker mounted behind the other so a 2x10 takes up the same space as a regular 1x10:

It seems they do a 2x10, 2x12 and a very intriguing and compact 4x10

I believe the Orange 1x15 cabs (like some Mesa's) are similar to the old EV TL606 cabinets.
Many of us have had really good results with an LM series amps and these cabs loaded with 3015 or EV's; would suspect that the Orange would have a similar character.

They are quite controversial. Some say the advantage of the second driver (3 db boost) is neutralised by them being isobaric.

I haven't heard them, but I think you might see them as 110s with extreme power handling and slightly improved bottom. The physical dimensions are important too, but the portability outweighs in my opinion the advantages of big cabs.

At least, ever since I got them I wouldn't swap both of my compact and modular 112 cabs for anything in the world at this point.
