Anyone use a GB Neox400 2-10

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi Tb'ers

i have a chance to pick up a used Genz Benz Neox400 2-10 combo amp in good shape for around $500. i play a Sterling HS 4 string and use a SWR Super Redhead but i am looking for a little more portable amp for smaller gigs. Does anyone have any experience with this amp and how does the sound compare to the Super Redhead? I know this amp is discontinued so is $500 a decent price? with the wattage being around the same if i really like it it could become my main amp. any advice would be appreciated. I wish some one around Rockland County, NY stocked Genz Benz i have heard so many great things about them but have never gotten a chance to ever play one.

Peace
Dave

This was the model upon which the NeoPak 3.5 was based on. It was our early entry into lighter weight combos (which have obviously evolved from here) which ultimately led to the Shuttle and ShuttleMax products. They were very reliable and there are quite a few out there. We still service these and stock all of the parts.

Here's the owner's manual:

^^^ How many SWR engineers are telling you about the Redhead on this site?

Great combo. Played one for not very long many moons ago and was impressed. Have a buddy who has a GBE400 and a airhead Genz 2 X 10 and it is awesome.

Don't know if I could compare it to a redhead. If I were in your shoes I'd go for it over the Redhead. Mainly because I prefer GB stuff and it's lighter. I used the Redhead at Samash as my reference when playing basses and It's tone was consistent also practiced with one for several months but always felt like I was missing something. Though it is a very competent combo.

My $0.02. Either one will be a great amp to play out and practice with.

I hope you had a great Holiday.

My grandmother taught English lit and language arts at Brown. My grandfather was a newspaper editor.

I write ad copy for an amplifier company.

You can also check out website for our "Showroom dealers". These are dealers that have agreed to keep core product in stock.

It's a good thing I design and you write eh?

Holiday? It's a holiday? I don't get no stinkin' holiday. I'm TD'ing a Smashing Pumpkins show tonight. Load-in at 8am, home at 2am. Makes designing amps feel like pussy work!
