Anyone use a Hafler DH-500?

I'm thinking about a new power amp and have come across these amps. I'm currently using a McIntosh MC2105, which has great tone, but not very much headroom at 105wpc. I've used QSC, etc. but after using a Mac, the QSC tone just isn't doing it for me.

Speakers are JBL 12s and 15s.

TIA
Edwin

As far as clean performance I've heard Haflers are made out of awesome. I really wanted one for my rig and was sad to see that they went under sometime ago. I've heard and seen quite a few of these powering studio monitors......that has to say something.

I think the Trans-Nova might be more your speed tho. Thats what Eminence uses to test their speakers.

Agree on the Trans-Nova. I picked up a P7000 off Ebay for under $200, it's 350 a side at 8, 500 at 4. Sounds freaking fantastic (a P4000 beat out a Bryston in my favorite mastering studio on some Dunlavys, great sounding room). Of course, the P7000 is over 40 pounds by itself, so that's a consideration as well. The smaller ones might weigh less.

I built a Hafler D200 from a kit back in '79. Fantastic amp, but I can't imaging gigging with it because it weighs a ton! I use it to power a pair of B&W speakers in my practice space, and it still sounds clean, powerful, and transparent.

Thanks guys! I'll keep my eyes open for a P7000, that sounds perfect. From what's on ebay right now, though, under $200 seems like a fantastic price!

I don't mind that much weight. My Mac is over 60lbs.
