Question Ashdown 8x10 Question

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, I'm playing the Viper Room in Hollywood tonight, and they want me to use backline gear which is an Ashdown rig: an Evo head with an 8x10. I get to use my own SVT head, but I have to use the cab. Does anyone know if the 8x10 has sealed 2x10's like the classic Ampeg 8x10. Does anyone know any differences between the Ampegs and the Ashdowns? thanks.

The ABM 8x10 is sealed, 4 chambers like an SVT. Like the SVT it could contain various drivers each with their own sound.

The ABM 810 is IMO an upgrade from the Ampeg 810. Better lows, not muddy. It's one of my favorite cab in the ashdown line with the mini48 and mini15.

I would not be sorry to have this rig supplied as the backline to any of my gig.

well I'm trying to decide between an orange obc410 and obc 112 rig or an 810 ashdown rig to go with my svt-vr

I like Ashdown because their customer service is great, but that isn't so relevant with cabs. I dislike Orange because I think they are overpriced for what they are. Neither says much about the practicality of the products though.

4x10+1x12 sounds weird...the 4x10 will totally overpower the poor 1x12 no? Why that particular choice?

There's plenty of other cabs I'd think before Orange to go with an SVT. Aguilar 4x12 or 8x10, 2 x 2x12 among others.

+1. After being lucky enough to use both at seperate gigs recently I loved the sound of the ashdown so much I bought one. It has been a treat every time I've plugged in since.
