ashdown c210t abm3 eq help?!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi I've recently bought an ashdown abm3 c210t and I've had some trouble with the eq, (I've always had trouble understanding eq but I could always find the right sound on other ashdown amps,) I can't find a warm slap sound that most funk players can find, I was just wondering if anybody knows an eq setting that would suit this style or how I could get around this? Thanks

On that amp, engaging the shape function should get you a long way IME.

I agree. Definitely engage the shape function.

On this amp, I also recommend that you begin with a relatively "clean" Valve Drive setting. Somewhere between 6 o'clock (off) and 9 o'clock (25%) is a good place to start. Then, adjust the EQ settings to your preference.

As for EQ recommendations, I have gotten the best results with a slight boost of the 1st slider (180Hz) and by setting the "Middle" knob somewhere between the 11 and 1 o'clock positions, depending on the bass used. These are good statring points for most of my jazz basses. I then tweak to accommodate active vs passive or to compensate for qualities inherent in various pickups.

I have ocassionally had to "cut" the 3rd slider (1.3KHz) slightly, but not often. I also adjust the "Bass" knob to ensure that the drivers are not distressed and set "Treble" to preference for each bass used, but never over 2 o'clock for either setting.

Good luck!
