Ashdown or Eden?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everyone,

I'm looking for a new bass amplifier head and cabinet, I've found two sets I like within my price range and I need your advice:
The ASHDOWN ABM 500 EVOIII top with ASHDOWN ABM 410H cabinet

http://www.thomann.de/nl/ashdown_abm...i_bundle_1.htm

,and the Eden WT550 top with an Eden/Nemesis EN410XST-4 cabinet.

http://www.thomann.de/nl/eden_halfst...410xst_4_4.htm

What are the major differences between these amps and why is one (possibly) better than the other? All comments are helpfull!

I prefer the Ashdown, but that is just because I prefer the "meaner" tone of them, compared to the more clean and "nice" tone of the Eden.

IMO, I like Eden better. But, the two techs I've spoken with here in KC area have both commented that Eden is horrible to deal with. When I had my Eden, it was not warranty work so it didn't matter--but you that might be a factor.

ashdown can give you an extra layer or aggression that the eden does not really have but the eden is smooth as silk and i like both, but i bought an ashdown because it looks prettier, and yes i know thats not a proper reason.

try both if you can. They both bring goodness to the table. Ashdown is grittier, tubier but will do clean as well. Eden IMO punchier.

You need to decide what you want out of your tone.
