I know it might struggle with a loud drummer, especially as a main head. But how about being a backup? If a tube or something goes out on my SVT, I don't always have the money to bring it to a tech right away. | As a backup to an SVT I think you're dreaming. I had a 50W tube amp that couldn't keep up clean tone to a jazz band getting a head of steam on, full PA support. It was a very clean amp overall too.
If you had a nice mic and could elevate the cab to get yourself some montoring it could work and be the best tone out front you ever had but your bandmates would probably be starved of bass.

For you guys that use it for recording, are you taking the DI out from the amp or micing the cab? |

At a metal show no less, so I can tell you first hand. It couldn't keep up for the life of it running my Epifani 310. I relied heavily on stage monitors. Maybe running an 810, but definitely would struggle with a 410. I have a loud drummer, as in they don't come much louder, it is a blessing and a curse.
I might try and run it at practice one night to see how it fares with my 410 and a drummer, but I don't think it will really cut it.
Side note, this thing sounds friggin great.

Through an 8x10 it would be a LOT louder but still not enough for your application.
