Do not buy that amp !!!
I bought it from Thomman Cybershop (about 6 months ago) because it was soooo cheap, so I thought that it would be nice to have such a little, powerful, lightweight amp for a backup or whatever.
ASHDOWN LITTLE GIANT 1000 - Thomann UK Cyberstore

Just as they say: "If something looks to good to be true it usually isn't"

Build quality is poor, I had feeling that some of buttons would just fall of, there was obviously something wrong with speakon socket, because contact with the cab was sometimes lost and I had to fiddle with it.
Premp was so quiet, so it was necessary to roll up gain very high and result was hissing sound.
Even with gain knob at maximum, VU meter never reached 0 dB (I have used different basses - active, passive).
1000 W? Not a chance...

I have returned it the next day...

It is more than suspicious that they are still for sell at the same price (I think it is recognized that these apms are just not good)

I repeat: Do not buy that amp !!!

Hi,

i still have a LG 1000.
Yes it is true, it has a gain problem. The preamp gives not enough signal to the power amp. But i had mine modified, now it has plenty of power. The mod was easy and did cost me around 50Bucks.
This amp sounds actually pretty good. The preamp is rather clean. The EQ not bad at all and versatile. DI Signal is fine.
The Class D module is made from powersoft, found also in many Markbass amps. With the the gain mod the amp delivers the 2 x 500W beautifully. I found the build quality not that bad, but also not exiting either.

Another good use of this amp would be to use it as a poweramp only with a preamp of your choice. Just connect your pre amp to the effects return jack at the back of the amp. I used a little mackie mixer (402 Vlz3) for this. Works fine! You can even plug your bass into the Pre of the LG, then go from the EFX send to the input of the Mackie mixer. Then back to the EFX return. You can now even connect more basses in to the mixer. So you have 1 Input with full EQ, and additional inputs as many you mixer provides.
This is actually quite cool.....

Regards,
Paul

I would steer clear of this amp, get a markbass or something similar, the ashdown amps are very patchy in quality

Ashdown amps are not "patchy" in quality. I have run a good bit of Ashdown gear for a long time. Never a problem. Never a complaint. Two 410 cabs. Three 210 cabs. Mag300R. Mag 600R. ABM500. SuperFly. Okay you got me on that one. Mag 210 combo. Always held their own in tone and volume. Gig after gig after gig. Looking to get the Mibass asap.

The Little Giants are fugly looking. Bizzare marketing..... and they just look/feel cheap.

I extensively ABed the 1000 against the TC RH450 and ended up buying the TC.

Most of the Ashdown Heads aren't much more than the LG 1000 on Thomann As i was just looking at it at the same time. Possibily one of the MIBass maybe or the MAG EVOII Heads.
Had My Mag EVOII Combo for a while now, soon as i can transport it im going to save up for a Head and Cab , Both will be ashdown.

Also heard of the problems with the LG Series from ashdown, hence why they have now got the MiBass, Considering one went as the other came in.
