Ashdown little giant 1000 feedback

They seem a very cheap amp are they any good??? Is it worth having one for a back up at that price.. I mean £200 (thomann)whole English pounds or bout $300 surely they can't be for real or trust worthy has anyone got any experience or opinions on these units..

Also they run 500w each side into 4ohms so does that mean I can run 4x8ohm cabs (2each side) to get the full 500 watts.
But if I run two 8ohm cabs from one side would that give me 500w also?? If I was to run 2 8ohm cabs (1each side) would I only get 300 watts..
Just want to check my understanding of this..

I don't think Ashdown sold a lot of those. In theory, nice amps but not bridgable. Most folks own 1 or 2 8ohm cabs. To take full advantage, you'd have to have either 2 4ohm cabs or 4 8ohm cabs. Also, it's a micro amp. Hauling around 4 cabs defeats the purpose of downsizing. I think they have it right now with the MiBass micro amps.

I got one really cheap used as a back-up a couple years ago. After testing it out it became my main work horse for the majority of my "cover band" gigs. I just run one side into a Schroeder 1212L(4 ohm) and it's plenty loud. I run it with the EQ section disengaged with my active and passive basses and it sounds decent. My only knock is the lack of a ground lift on the DI.

I own one and it is a solid amp for sure.

You can pretty much run it any way you want except with a 2 ohm load.
The minimum load will be 4 ohms.

And at the price you mentioned it's really a good price.

Getting confused on bridging now can someone explain it to my monkey brain..
I have 2 212 mbe's how would I set then up to get the full 500w power.
Would I run two 8ohm cabs from the one output..? To give me 4ohms. Will that give me a 500w rating at 4ohms.
And what would happen if I did the same to the other channel..??

You cannot bridge the amp. You can either run one cab from each side, or both from one side. "Getting all the watts" is not really as important as you may think. Just try hooking up your cabs both ways, and see which you like best.
