Ashdown MAG 414T Deep Bass Cabinet + Ashdown 550 Spyder Bass Top Head. Good Combo?

I'm thinking of buying an Ashdown MAG 414T Deep Bass Cabinet and a Ashdown 550 Spyder Bass Top Head.
http://www.thomann.de/gb/ashdown_mag_414t_deep.htm and http://www.thomann.de/gb/ashdown_550_spyder.htm

I play a lot of bass lines with distortion/fuzz. I'm also playing with a guitarist with a 50 Watt Valve amp, so I need a high wattage to match it volume wise, and avoid overheating.

Do you think this amp would be suitable and worth the money? It would add up to £600, worth considering?

If you use a distortion or fuzz a lot, you really need to try any cabinet with a tweeter/horn before you get it. (That Ashdown has one!) The tweeter and crossover can really make or break a cabinet's usefulness. I've had good experiences with Genz Benz, Bag End, and Mesa cabinets with tweeters while using some nasty OD or a tube amp running in the red. I know that's probably no help for you but they're ones to look for if you had the cash.

Yeah Christw, I know what you mean about the tweeter/horn. I'm hoping someone here has some experience using it with distortion. There's none nearby me that I know of, so if I am to try it then it'll probably require a fair journey. So does anyone here know if it's any good for distortion? I play a lot of Muse if it's any help for assessing its distortion abilities?

Suggestions of other cabs and heads are welcome, but remember I live in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. So the variation of available gear sadly isn't as good as it is further south But there is plenty of good online sites, just trying the amps could be an issue :/

In addition to the Ashdown MAG 414T Deep Bass Cabinet, I was also looking at the ASHDOWN MAG410T http://www.thomann.de/gb/ashdown_mag410t.htm thoughts on either would be great!

I own a Spyder 550 and I love it. It has a very natural growl to it that really really sounds good with distortion. I do not own a Mag 410 but I own several other model Ashdown 410's and an Ashdown 610(the CL610 model, which does not have a tweeter) and distortion sounds great with the Spyder 550.

And of course this in my experience.

The rack mount version of the Spyder 550 is no longer in production.

I'm an Ashdow endorser.
