Still doesn't sound like multiple 10's. Same vibe and feel but, not quite that massive hit in the middle. To be fair, the hathor does compete with other sealed cabs and sounds like them. The berg nv610 is really a different animal. It just hits so much harder than an ampeg 8x10 that it's almost not a fair comparison to other sealed cabs. But, thats what any cab has to do to compete for my attention. I'd take a pair of hathors over an ampeg 8x10 any day, or any other ported cab. Thats bassed on sound. I may like the eden xlt cabs better in some ways but, not when it comes to moving them. Duke hit a nice balance. Im sure that if I sent him my nv610 he could come up with something just as good and better. If the nv had the upper mids and treble of the hathor it would be perfect. The hathor is a serious cab once broken in. I had the billy sheehan grind from hell at last nights jam. It really sounded like his overdriven but, warm sound. Same kind of low end he would use too. Big and punchy but, not as tight and punchy as I prefer. Im in line to get his new EBS overdrive and through the hathor it will be scary.
As mentionned elsewhere, it sounds like a Hathor based around the Eminence 3015 might provide a bit more low mid punch and power handling which might close the gap even further. Nice. If these show up I'd just buy one and scrap my 3015/Faital DIY build. What are the Hathor's dimensions?

25 tall, 18 wide, 13 deep, 35lbs. Duke and I are talking about the 3015. Nothing wrong with the faital at all. Great driver. I feel that many players ears are tuned into the eminence sound since so many oem drivers are made by them. They just seem to hit alittle harder and have more midrange character. In short, more like a bass cab driver. The faitals are flatter and cleaner.

Agreed, that's exactly why I think a 3015-loaded Hathor would kill with a Streamliner 900.

Yes, I think it would too. I think the current version would. Duke really seems to want to get the sound of a big multi-driver cab into a small and light cab, with no more than one big woofer or two smaller woofers. Thats going to be a tough job. There is something else aside from just tuning at work. But, if anyone can do it, it's Duke. The force is strong with him.

Duke, I ran the nv610 and hathor through my dbx driverack which is usually used to flatten a speakers response. But, if you look at like a photo negative, you can see roughly what the speakers response it. This is rough, but works for me. Pm me your e-mail and I'll try to send you the pics. That would tell you alot about what guys are talking about with the nv610 and sealed cabs in general. Chris
