| | | | Avatar 4x10 for a 350w Hartke head?

Hi, I may be acquiring a Hartke 350w @ 4 ohm head and wanted to add a 4x10 cab to it.
I was thinking of going with an Avatar rated at 4 ohms to get the full 350 out of the head but the Avatar is also rated at 1000w.
Will I be straining the Hartke and will it be to low of volume?
Would the 2-12 at 500 or 600w be better? Thanks.

| | | | straining? Because you are matching the ohms correctly, "straining" will not occur.
Volume will be fine too. If you play in a loud band, I'd suggest a 8 ohm cab so you can add a second cab if needed. |

| | | | The 1000 watt rating for the Avatar is just 250 watts for each Deltalite II (x 4) when the voice coils will probably stop working - with too much bass eq, they'll reach their x-max long before that, so the 1000 watts doesn't really mean anything substantial.
Your head will be fine. 300 watt GK 800RBs are loud as hell with Ampeg 8x10s.
Personally, right now I'd consider the 15" three way Avatar just came out with for 400 bucks, it's a veritable steal, but what ever floats your boat.

I love the tightness of tens.

| | | | Avatar B410 Neos I'm a big fan of these cabs (have 2 of them)
and I think you'd have a great combination there.
They'll take anything that amp head can dish out.

| | | | Two more questions....
Would two 2x10's sound the same as the 4x10?
Would it sound better to maybe get a 2x10 and a 1x12?

Lots of stages don't give you enough room to get very far out from your amp so with a 410 the mids blow right by your knees and all you can hear is the thump and lows . Also the sound spreads farther to the sides when the speakers are in a line on top of each other , just like at big concerts with all those little cabinets suspended in a verticle line . That's why the speakers for concerts are called line arrays , it really makes a difference .
A 112 and a 210 stacked may sound pretty good , I used to use an Avatar 112 with an Eden 210XLT , and I thought it sounded great . I don't know how the Avatar 112 and 210 would sound together though but all the speaker gurus around Talkbass say the matching speakers of the same kind work much better . They have a much more even sound that way .
When I had my Avatar 410 neo I had a hard time hearing it on some stages and I think it was just what I said before , the sound was blowing by my knees and I just couldn't hear the mids . I think if I had the 2-210 stack I might have kept it . The Avatars do sound very good if you get the 410 or any other cabinet though .

That's what I'm going to do. I'm conviced that the two 2x10's is the way to go. I'll stack em.
Unfortunatly, it will be almost double the price of one 4x10, but....oh well.
