My church used to use an Ampeg Ba115. Since everyone used it over the past 8 years it has seen better days. Right now the bass player from the Hispanic ministry at my church is using a Crate.. a nice amp.. and he doesn't mind if I use it.. (so far) but I don't like using other people's gear, especially in situations where it is open for anyone to use.. because if something happens I don't want to be on the hook at all (unless of course I damaged it.. in which case I'd just deal with it.).

At home and on gigs I use my 6.0 and my 212 Schro 4Ohm.. at rehearsals I use my old SWR LA-15.. I leave that at the drummer's house.. it is still decent but it has no DI and I wound up leaving it at the church when I first got it .. and the speaker got blown.. I had to go through changes to get the church to pay for fixing it.. (That was when they got the Ba-115) but eventually it got fixed, but because of that I hesitate to leave it there again.

I found an Avatar 212 that I can get for $250 at a local pawn shop. I am thinking of getting this and leaving it at the church and just bringing in my Shuttle when I play. It has wheels .. and I figure if I do that then unless someone has a head.. the cab will be safe. I have two questions..

1-Is there a difference between a guitar cab and a bass cab or is a 212 cab a 212 cab as long as the power requirements are met?

and more importantly ...

2-Does anyone have this cab? It looks like it is in pretty good shape.. In fact it looks exactly like this one:

Only whoever owned it put casters on the bottom of it.. which is actually a good thing..

I like the idea of getting this cab and leaving it at the church because that way I can get more use out of my head.

I've got that cab, and its a heckuva deal. I got mine used for the same price and it's a steal.

As for the difference between a guitar 2x12 and a bass 2x12--there's a huge difference. The drivers that Avatar uses in these cabs are specially designed to handle higher excursions (i.e., lots of deep, high-volume bass), where a guitar cab would never have that designed in because guitars don't go that deep. Get the Avatar, it's a great deal.

That's Avatars bass cab and a very good deal as long as the speakers work . Probably perfect for your church gig . They handle power real well and if another member of your church uses it with another head there is little chance they will blow it . Plus they sound very good too .
