Avatar B210 with TB153?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Markbass Tube 800 and an Avatar B210. I am happy with the sound of the B210 (... but we are always looking to improve right?!?) I am considering adding a TB153 which I have heard very good things from TBers about. Could use either cab depending on the gig or put em together. Any thoughts/ experiences?

I am a firm believer of not pairing 15's with anything other than 15's. It may look cool, but never sounds the way it should. Get another B210 and vertically stack them or get a TB153 and if you like it ditch the 210.

This. The 153 will only sound lesser if you combine it with a standard 2x10. You'll probably be volume limited by the 2x10 as well.

Don't screw up a good thing. Either get another identical 210 or sell it and get a 153, add a second later if you need it, but you probably won't.

I find it funny that most everyone believes that 15's and 10s go together. A "best of both worlds" if you will. You get the low end of a 15 while getting the punch from the 10s. I used to think this was true too and thanks to people more knowledgeable than me on TB and a good friend that runs sound and plays bass I have learned differently.

I agree with the others. Running 10's and 15's can work, but it can also be disastrous. I vote to get one or the other.

yes, one or the other. in this case, it would be cheaper to add another identical 210.

Thanks for sharing on the topic... the best "path of least resistance" sounds like stick with identical 210's.

As always TBers are a great resource!

Seems like we have a few different threads with the same Q

I have not been happy with a pair of 2x10 cabs the several times I have tried that. Have often enjoyed 2x10 combined with a 15. My current set up actually. Option in a smaller room is just use the 2x10, small/weird rooms don't like the 153 as much... Outside of practice at home or In a compact space, no probs with the 15... I'd recommend you try it for yourself.
