I just wanted to say I finally found the sound I was looking for. I've heard Bassman 50 watt Tube Amps weren't that great for Bass but I'm here to say they are crazy. Plugged into 'Bass Instument' plug with 'Deep' switch off. Volume at 6, treble at 10 and Bass at 7 and '73 Fender Precision volume max and treble completely off, with Rotosound Roundwounds. It sounds fantastic, and for 50 watts, is suprisingly very loud.

The tone is great, but IME they run out of headroom very early for an average gig/bar. Fine if the rest of the band is not too loud onstage though - I have fond memories of my old Bassman 100 into a couple of JBK E140s back in the seventies.

Practiced in a pretty good size room and still on 6 with treble down all the way on my Bass. It was plenty loud and I can turn up volume also (Don't like to do that for a while with new speakers though). I think I won't have a problem in the places we usually play. I always bring my GK400RB 200 watt for back up and like I said can mike it if need be.

I love the way my 100-watt Carvin tube power amp sounds through my two Avatar neo 112s. I haven't gigged that setup yet but I'd say the volume is there for a moderate jazz or church gig.

FBF, you'll find that the speakers get deeper and louder sounding after they break in. If you've only got 50 watts, you don't need to worry about cranking your amp up before they're broken in. Louder practice will break them in faster. Have fun!
