Avatar B212 problem. NEED HELP!

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi everyone,

My rig is a LMII amp with an Avatar B212 Neo cab.
I play a lot of metal and I love using lots of mids and highs.

My problem is that when I do use mids and highs I get this nasty popping sound when I attack my bass hard and the amp eventually turns off which I assume is a safety feature.
Markbass support said its probably an impedance hole in my cab. I've been looking around the forum for similar problems but no luck. I have however seen that a lot of Avatar owners upgrade their tweeters with mid range drivers and such.

Could it be that my tweeter is blown and I need to replace? If so based on my playing preference can someone recommend me drivers? And would it be my best interest to get it replaced by someone who knows what they are doing instead of doing it myself?
Thanks for reading this and I look forward to reading the responses. Thank you.

If you like mids and highs, then one alternative is to sell the B212 and buy something that was designed from the get-go to deliver lots of midrange energy. There are MANY, MANY options if you choose to go that way, and you're far more apt to nail your sound.

There are other justifiable ways to go on this, but that's how I'd handle it.

Give Dave at Avatar a call and he might be able to help you out. Super nice guy and I've never had a problem getting in touch with him.

Thanks for your responses. I found my problem. Luckily and stupidly it was just my speaker cable. I used a friend's cable last night and it worked like a champ. I got the tone that I wanted with no compromises all throughout my band's rehearsal. I'm so relieved that it wasn't a more expensive problem.

Yeah, always swap around the cables! Sometimes saves lots of grief. Glad it was just that.

I was getting my lmII amp to shut off with my b212 when it would start to feedback (like if I had volume cranked and was facing the cabinet and was too close) I was figuring it was a safety thing too. Other than that...love the thick boomy sound I get out of my lmII and b212 combination.
