Avatar B212 vs Avatar B410?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello all,

I have an Avatar, 4 ohm, B212 that I am very satisfied with, but I was considering getting a 4 ohm B410 as I am thinking the B410's 40 inches of cone surface area vs the B212's 24 inches should give me more output correct?

Has anyone done a direct comparison? If there is not much differece in output the 410 purchase doesn't make much sense. Thanks

All I can say is that you probably want to check your math on the actual moving area of the speakers it's not a disc, it's a cone.
Otherwise, I asked Dave about this sometime ago, and here's what he had to say about it:
"HI two 12's may go a little deeper tonewise but I would think that the 410s would be a little louder and punchier"

I have a B410 now and love it. Thinking about getting 2 2x10s though.

Incorrect. Output is determined by the product of excursion and diaphragm area, not diaphragm area alone. And your area figures are way off too.

I have both. A 2 12 ( 4ohm) with deltas and 4 10 * ohm) with betas. I prefer the 12 overall tone but the 4 10 is clearly louder even with the ohm differnce.

Ahhh....

Sorry for the ignorance. I thought that given the same watts, more speakers equals more volume ... to an extent.

But anyway, the answer to the question seem to be that a 410 cab is not much louder than a 212 cab for any real practical purpose right? If that is the case then I have to make a different plan. Thanks for your help guys.
