AVATAR blown tweeter UPDATE

Sign in to disble this ad
I posted that I blew the tweeter in my Avatar 4x10 and was asking about some wiriing changes.

First off Avatar was nothing but helpful through the whole process giving me wiring advice and offering a new voice coil as an option to just dropping the tweeter. As usual they answer emails promptly.

In the end I was the idiot. After opening up the jackplate to make repairs....on closer inspection the CROSSOVER had broken loose at on end of the solder joint. It took about 30 seconds to repair.

Just wanted to make sure that that info got posted.

Not really. I think it is just time for new bifocals. Everything was in place the joint was just cracked...it was hardly visible upon initial investigation.

Heck, you'd need a magnifier to see a good percentage of cracked solder joints. They can be pretty hard to find. Idiot? Don't think so...good find!

Sorry, you said it had "broken loose", I was picturing something swinging in the breeze with a big, neon "HERE'S THE PROBLEM" sign.

Nice catch.
