I have been looking at more expensive stuff like the mesa etc, I was curious to the quality and sound as the pricing is quite good.

thanks for the input.

There has been a lot of discussion about Avatar here on Talkbass. The general concensus is that they're a really good deal. I owned a Neo 4x10 at one time. Some say they compare to higher end cabs like Eden and Aguilar. In my experience, they aren't in the same league as more expensive cabs.

Try a search?

There is lots of reviews on here. I own a 212, and its really a well built cab. Its got a mid scoop sound to it, that is noticeably scooped at low volumes, but when you turn up the scoop seems to die down, and EQing in mids really helps.

If that is your sound its wonderful. The speakers are awesome, and it really well tuned.

I have two, have owned far more expensive cabs and I'd say that they're a good value. They're not fantastic cabs but the do the job and more for a very reasonable price.

IMHO...
Mesa's have the best constructed cabs on the market. (Some here at T.B. have said over-built and heavy.)
Avatar and Mesa's speakers are from Eminence. (Probably 99% of all brand-name bass cabinet manufacturers use Eminence.)
Mesa has the better crossover. I believe Mesa uses Foster horns, as does Avatar.
You'll pay 2 to 2-1/2 times more than the Avatar's price for the Mesa's improvements.
Only your ears can decide if it's worth the difference.
In my case, I went from high-dollar, brand-name cabinets, (Ed*ns and prior to that Amp*gs), to two Avatar Neo 210 cabinets that I use as a vertical 410.
I don't regret going to Avatar for a second.

Avatars are great cabs. I owned 2 of them. Aesthetically, they aren't as good looking as most major manufacturers cabs. They are pretty bare bones. As for performance, they are definitely not the worst of the lot! Well made and durable. I never had a problem with them. They never failed on me. That's in 8 years of steady gigging. I just sold them today. Only because I'm using lighter cabs now.

I own an Avatar B212 with the Line-X coating (which looks really nice and is very strong). I like this one way better than any other cabinet I have owned - which includes top of the line cabs from Mesa, Eden, SWR, Ampeg, GK, Hartke, Fender, Carvin, Bergantino and Aguilar.

However, I do not use the crossover or tweeter and had it rewired with Eminence Delta Pro-12A speakers.

The original Delta LF's are good, but they have to be used with a crossover. Also, I have no experience with their neo speakers, so not sure what those sound like.

Dave at Avatar is a good guy and in my experience treats people right.

Good luck!
