I used just this setup at a rehearsal with my funk band a couple weeks ago, and it was great. 12-piece band (6 horns, keys, guitar, drums, 2 vocals and myself) and I had the volume on 3. Sounded killer... lots of thump, no farting.
I used my full Shuttle/B210 Neo/B212 Neo stack at a recent gospel band performance (10 vocalists!, 2 keys, a sequencer and a louda$$ drummer) and I forgot how much power that rig pushes. I was putting out more low end than the house system.
5sg.
Old pic (that's like elebenty hundred versions of my pedalboard ago... lol)
From a gig about a month ago now

Im in serious need of a downsized rig, a 610 is just way more than I need for gigs. I've been gassing over avatar stuff for quite a while and wanted to get some input on the SB112 cabs. Would a pair of these be enough for small to medium sized gigs? I often have PA support, but I don't like being totally dependent on it, I like to feel some air. I'm playing a Spector legend custom (P/J) and a fender modem player jazz bass through a Markbass TTE500.. Help me avatar club, your my only hope

Help me avatar club, your my only hope | The SB112 has been my primary cabinet for many years. I love the warmth, punch, and it pushes a fair ammount of air. I also have a 212neo but most of the time it is more than I need. I have direct compared (same band/venue) with a 2x10 cab and myself and everyone else favored the SB112. I use the SB112 mainly with my SWR Studio 220 and it has been more than enough for small/medium gigs with or without PA (includes some outside gigs). I usually play classic rock/blues with at least 2 guitars and keys. I have the 4ohm/500watt model and will trade it for nothing!

Do any of the 2x10 owners play 5 string? Does it handle it well or does it get farty on the low B? | I played a gig last night with a TH500 and an Avatar B210 neo. It handled the low B with ease. |

| | Registered User | | Join Date: Nov 2012 Location: Lacombe La. USA | | | Just won a Neo b410 on Ebay! Read so many great reviews I thought Id try it out. Needed new equip. and this sounds like a good shot. Also the price is absolutely right! I play every weekend now 2-4 shows each weekend. Been needing new stuff for years. Old stuff has traveled all over the U.S. several times. two straight years on Bourbon St. five nights a week, and hundreds of gigs since then. Cant wait to play through new gear. I have an Eden WT400 and a GK MB500. I play a Specter Euro 5 and a Salvador Giardina Electric Upright Bass hand made here in New Orleans. |

| | | | New Avatar owner-review B410 neo OK folks, here are some pics and a review of my new Avatar B410 Neo cab. Can I get a number please?
I started my search for a new 410 cab with the expensive models, and then decided between the Epiphani, SWR GoLight and the Avatar. I came on the idea of the Avatar late in my search, and I was a bit skeptical, but I am very happy I went in that direction. My go to cab to date was my Genz Benz Neo 212, and in the past I have owned an Eden XLT 410, an Eden D410 and a few others from my early years. I currently play about 75 gigs a year, but have done many more in years past.
My experience with Avatar was fantastic. Dave is a friendly guy who seems a straight shooter. I had an issue with the size of the box fitting flush on my rack after reading the dimensions online and taking a tape measure to it. I expressed this concern when ordering and Dave sent along some rubber feat for me that worked out perfectly, free of charge. I had the cab in my house within 1 week of placing my order. These cabs are cheaper because they are built to order and sold factory direct. The owner of the company (Dave) takes all orders, and I easily paid via paypal. I never thought much about appearance, I was ready to go swr black fuzzy without an issue, but after seeing all of the options available from Avatar it was actually fun sweating the details. I ended up with a 4ohm, 410 cab with eminence deltalight neos, burgundy tolex (looks like leather), oxblood with gold strip grill cloth and black piping. I also ordered a slip cover at the very reasonable price of 29.99. I believe my total, including shipping was just under $800.00, but the same sound can be had without the frills for less than $650.00 delivered, $550.00 if you get the ceramic drivers instead of the neos. That really is a steal.
The sound:
I was able to A/B the cab through my regular stage rig with my Genz Benz neo 212, also a great cab.
The Avatar really delivered exactly what I expected of it. I was looking for more definition in the upper midrange. The GB is magic as far as its output vs size vs weight, but for me its just a little too "woofy" in that 100hz area. I have read some talk about a dip about 1k, but I really did not experience this to any noticeable degree. My Eden 410XLT defiantly had more punch in that 40 to 60 hz range, but for my money, low end that I can't control doesn't help me much on a loud stage. I have PA support to handle that task, so I prefer definition over sub lows. I do play a five string and it has 1 bartolini musicman style soap bar in it with a high end preamp. Talk about low end ... and this cab handles it fine. My 4 string Pedulla with the modern bart preamp really opened up on the top end of the mids, which is what I was hoping for. The port on the box is small, and the low end throw is appropriate to the size of the port. The box feels very solid, and the workmanship is flawless on mine. The tweeter seems like any to me sound wise, I have a love/hate relationship with those, but the crossover point seems appropriate, and I don't hear a hole at all. Had mine set at about 9 o'clock, and for me, it needs to be on. Maybe it is their new design, a two way sort of passive crossover that makes it work well. I run an Alembic F1-X through a bridged Crown K1. The cab is quick/responsive. Maybe not quite as efficient as my Eden, nothing that concerned me. I have headroom for days, and run the power amp at about 60%. If you need to feel your pants legs shake, this may not be a wise choice for you. Vertical 12's would do a better job. But considering what my Eden box weighed, and how good this box sounds I am very happy I saved the money I would have spent on the Epifani. I was willing to do it, but after hearing this with a rig I am intimately familiar with I realize already it's splitting hairs for loud live use with quality 410 neo boxes, and I just didn't need a $500.00 hair cut.
If anyone has any questions about it, I will try to give my input. First gig on this baby is Friday. I will post an update. |

I've been gigging my Avatar B210neo quite a bit lately. Powering it with the TH500. My Pedulla MVP6 really sounds great through it. That little cab really handles the low B string too. Mine is a 4 ohm version but I'm thinking of going for two 8 ohm B210's instead for modularity and more cone area when I need it. |

I also like mine just bunches. Plenty loud for small to med gigs, and if you have PA support you should be golden.
Highly recommended.

Been Rocking this B410NEO for the better part of 5 years. Thinking about driving it over to the factory and having the crew replace the metal grill with cloth to fit the SVT theme. Also need to have the crossover and tweeter replaced.
Thinking about picking up an SB112 to pair up with that SVT for at home use and recording. Definitely into the dual SB112a I've been seeing stacked up. Thinking a Stack like that paired with the 410 would be fun.
I noticed in one of the old reviews that a user had did some mods to his cab; replacing the speaking mounting screws with T-Nuts. Was wondering if anyone could elaborate on that?

| | | I have the 410, but its pre-neo. Sounds like a beast. I've A/B'ed it with Eden and SWR, and the Avatar holds up very well, if not sounding better. But at half the cost.
On another subject, here is a little video of my tiny 2x10 Avatar a small club gig I did last week. The sound was terrible at the club. The sound guy apparently didnt believe in mic'ing guitars, or putting the bass through the PA. I made him hook me up to a DI, and he did, but he then told me he wasnt going to turn it up. So here is a small clip of a song intro with a little bass solo. So all you are really hearing is my bass going direct into the Carving BX500, into the little Avatar 2x10. The video was taken with a flip cam, so it isnt doing any favors for the sound either. About half way through you can see a good shot of my little mini rig. http://youtu.be/Qk_uLtiY16Y

Normally it get's stacked side by side. That 2x15 is enormous and I hate it. A second B410NEO had always been the plan but I can't help but thinking that two SB112s would be a great modular rig and about all I'd need for any club in town.
I've always been sort of a more is more when it comes to cabs though and considering that most of the shows I play; lack any sort of PA; I've always worked with two cabs. It's been an agreement between me and my guitar player; to blow people away with volume. But that band is about to play it's last show and part ways amicably,...so I'm thinking hard on couple of the SB112s. I might get two,...both in 8ohms and run all 3 cabs for louder shows (the 410 is 4ohms the SVT will crank 2ohms).
