I was just looking at the Avatar TB153 cab --looks scrumptious. But I've never heard a 15" 3-way cab before, I don't really know if it's for me. Seeing as Avatar sells direct, obviously there's no store that is a dealer for them. So my question is, taking these things into consideration, how come they do not accept returns on brand new cabs? What if you plunk down $500 for a new cab and don't like it? Carvin sells direct and has a great return policy.
Side question: Has anyone here used two Avatar TB153s together? Two of them shipped is still a few hundred bucks less than a Bergantino NV610, the downside is I can't try it out (I'm not too far from BASSNW if I want to try out an NV610).
The fact that I can shut off the tweeter and still have full frequency response up to 5k is appetizing.

Seems like you need to get that figured out before you make a purchase. If you go with the Avatar cab, and decide you don't like it, the TB classifieds are always an option. |

I run a lot of effects, and am looking for a 610 with punchiness, volume, and 5k cutoff. The NV610 seemed to fit that bill.
I understand they are very different cabs, but I am just exploring my options before settling on the 610. I know what an Avatar 410 sounds like, but really have no idea what a 15" 3-way cab sounds like, that's why I am interested. It seems like I can get a lot of SPL for about $1000 with those Avatar 153s, so it's worth checking out.

I can however tell you that Dave from Avatar is a great guy to deal with, and that it really is worth giving him a call. I don't think you can go wrong with either, it's just gonna come down to what cab you like best. What head are you gonna be running with the setup? |

If you feed the cab 500 watts, it will be as loud as a reasonably sensitive 410. 2 of these would be deeper and clearer and as loud as a 410 (really) as long as they are fully powered.

Some people here have reported positive experiences related to Avatar promptly replacing bad speakers or cabs. As far as I know, they do not accept refunds after a trial period for non-defective cabs...at least not the TB153. I'm certain that it helps keep the prices down. It would be best to ask Avatar directly.
You could easily find eager buyers to sell a couple TB153 cabs if you they did not suit your taste and style. Quote:

The fact that I can shut off the tweeter and still have full frequency response up to 5k is appetizing. | I've played both the NV610 and the TB153, but not side by side. The TB153 has a more clear modern tone with a frequency range that extends a little bit lower. The 15" sub is housed in a ported chamber and the 6.5" mid-driver is in a sealed chamber. The NV610 is a sealed cab with a more vintage-colored tone. Both cabs sound very awesome in their own way.
I have been leaving the TB153 tweeters off for the most part. The range of the mid-driver extends plenty high enough for my needs. The TB153 tweeter is good though, in case you want that extra clank.

"All items we sell are not sold on a trial basis and are not returnable. The reason we don't accept returns is that some guys would love to try every item we have and return it to experiment with something else. and we would end up with a warehouse full of used merchandise. This also ensures that everyone only gets new PERFECT virgin merchandise. (Obviously, this doesn't apply to items purchased in the scratch and dent section of the website.)" (Emphasis added).
Pretty straightforward to me.
