| | | | Avatar Speakers Web Site has no secure ordering?

So I checked out Avatar speakers web site (which looks like it was designed in 1994) and was actually thinking of purchasing a cab, but then I went to the ordering page and they say we should send them an email with our credit card info??? I'm no expert, but I would have to say that is EXTREMELY unsafe and unwise thing to do. In this day and age I expect a high-security ordering form. I was little put off by all this. If their products are as good as everyone says they are it's a shame because their website need a major upgrade. |

It don't happen free and those costs get handed over to you as the buyer. A 'high security orderign form' goes into a database, which "can" be hacked and your info stolen. Online ordering gives the 'perception' of security in order to make customers feel.... secure...
You should worry just as much any time you give your credit card to some unknown waiter or bartender to carry off? They 'could' write down your digits and go ona spending spree. And you're worried about someone that so many people here recommend?
Dave's a good guy and legit and sold many many cabs to bassists and guitar players. That's worth more than an online order form.

. | I think OPs concern is sending his credit card information in plain text over the internet; a very valid concern. It'd be pretty easy to pick up that e-mail and get the information from it.
What I would recommend doing is calling if it's a concern. Or, you can also send a couple of e-mails that split up your information too. Or go crazy and put it in a text file, zip it, attach that to an e-mail and send it along :P. Still somewhat easy to get, but takes more effort than just reading the e-mail at least. |

It could be worse though. it could be non-secure and also use tons of non-informational FLASH ; }
Phones still have their uses. |

Buy one put however much money on it you need. Use it and put it in a drawer or throw it away. If the info or card gets stolen then they will have a blast on the remaining buck or two you have on it. |

You don't need an account with them to use it, and the receiver doesn't need a cart. I dropped my credit card option years ago after issues with hacking. I've never had a problem with PayPal. |

It would be nice if they had an online checkout, but considering their prices, I am willing to call.... |
