Nice! Remember to roll back your lows the first time you try it... or you may get a big surprise.

Would that be a good or a bad surprise BSkies?

First time I used my TB153 was a small club and it was OK; w/P5 & STM-900. The second gig I used it at was med-club. That nite I used my passive Jazz, same head. I was moving knobs all nite to get a good tone. Third nite back to P5, you could tell this was a good room, soundwise. And the cab performed fantasticly, like it just opened up or something. I was told here it prolly get broke in by then. I'm back at that first club again this Friday nite. Gonna use same 900 head and will take both the P5 and JoBo 5 to see how they work out. I'm talking no PA support for me, so I'm sorta pushing the amp n cab at these gigs.

I prefer to put those cabs through about 200 hours of heavy use before using them at a gig. The tone definitely improves with time. Your mileage may vary.

200 hours? Jeez, that's a helluva lot of break-in time. What good is THAT? I'd rather break it in on the job, thanks. imo.

I don't think I've played 200 hours at "heavy use" volume in the past YEAR. My hearing thanks me.

Quick post - Cab performed wonderfully -
I was using 2 Carvin cabs - a 15" and a 210 running biamped powered by a Carvin PB500.
Still using the same amp for now -
More lows, more mids - more highs -
Even more punch.
Very happy.
Will post more after tomorrow's gig - outdoors.

F*** yes 200 hours. I like to pound 'em good before performing.

I'll run CDs of recorded music or loop pedals through cabs when breaking them in. I don't need to play bass through them for the whole break in period. After a month or two, they're good to go for me. It helps to have a studio that can be loud 24/7.

The first 20 hours makes the biggest difference.

Bad surprises. Because of the low end sensitivity, if you're not used to it, you're going to get more than you think and you're going to rattle things off the walls or unduly stress a brand new speaker.

I felt my 3015LFs opened up after a week or two of fairly steady playing, probably 25 hours or so seems fine.

You are wrong. 24 hours is the correct number.

Personally, to break in my fEARful 15/6 I plugged in our 4000 watt QSC power amp into it with the 30Hz filter disengaged, cranked it up to full power with all the lows on my EQ boosted to the max and then I just slapped my low B silly all day long.

But that's me.

You can compensate for that by using two ESP power cords in series. After 11.75 hours remove one of the ESP power cords for the remainder of the driver break-in. Do make sure the ESP power cords have at least 75 hours of prior use though, or you will experience sudden fainting spells.

I build my power cables out of these. No break-in required.

Is it true that if I don't have the recommended break in period I might crease my cables?

That's why mine can't be creased...without an acetylene torch.
