Question Avatar TB153 With An On/Off 6" Switch?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just emailed Dave and asked if it was possible to get an Avatar TB153 cab with an On/Off switch for the 6" mid speaker. My thinking is it would make the cab much more versatile being able to play it as a traditional 15 and tweeter as well. I don't know anything about crossovers or wiring but doesn't that sound like a good idea or is it not doable?

I don't see the point. Use EQ to cut out the mids you don't want

Good idea? NO.

Doable, maybe with some complicated switching but that deafeats the purpose of the whole design including the woofer chosen for use with a mid. Want a 15 with a tweet in it, buy one, they're everywhere.

The simplest thing would be to have a switch that just bypasses the crossover, 6" driver, and tweeter and just go full range to the 15.

It's a terrible idea.

The 15" is a 3015LF, which is NOT a full range speaker.

Removing the mid from the equation leaves you running a subwoofer and a high frequency tweeter. There will a HUGE hole in your overall frequency response.
