Avatar vs. Fender Badges

Sign in to disble this ad
I just got my Avatar B212 and G212 last week. I love them but I hate the cheap plastic poorly made Avatar Badge. Here is my solution. I need another Fender Badge for the G212. Is it tacky to do this. I don't think it is. Double click to supersize.

Here's the G212. It will look just like an authentic Fender and it sounds just as good or better

Why bother? It's NOT a Fender cab, why would you want to pretend it is?
Yeah, it's tacky.

It's pretty tacky. Just take off the cheesy avatar tag and people will assume it's something else or not. Whatever.

Avatar is a good company and to do that to their gear is a slap in the face.

Nope, not tacky at all. It's your cabinet, put whatever you'd like on it.

If they were metal and not cheap white plastice (even silver plastic) and screwed in instead of loosely glued on the grill I wouldn't have minded. Thanks for your honest opinion though. I knew some people would definitely think it's tacky. Maybe I'll just save money and not put anything on the G212.

I really don't think it's tacky. You don't owe Avatar anything, other than the price of the cab. Unless they are giving you free cabs for you to advertise, feel free to take the badge off, and put on whatever you'd like, including a Fender badge. I don't think Mesa Boogie or Gator cares that I put an Italian flag emblem or soccer team stickers on my rack that holds my Boogie head.

Yes, why, of course!, you should super-size, and bless you! I'd get the BIG bucket.

I used to cover the Hamer logo on my headstock of my bass because as someone said you, me or anyone else doesn't owe the company anything but to label gear as something it isn't is IMO a bit tacky. Of course, the other people on here are absolutely right, it's your gear do as you please with it. I don't think Fender needs or deserves anymore publicity than they already get for everything bass.

Hell, If it doesn't bother you, it doesn't bother me! (unless I bought it from you thinking it's a Fender.....but I'm not that stupid!)

if it looks tacky remove it, I dont think that there is any need to add a fender badge but it would look good with the head. If you like it better that way why not? its your cab. I put an ampeg sticker on my gk just because its ironic.

Why not put an Avatar badge on the amp? Now THAT would REALLY make a statement! I hear Behringer badges can be had pretty cheap, just get a couple of those. Some even come with an amp still attached!

It's your stuff, have FUN with it!

It actually matches really well, looks good with the Fendy badge, IMO keep it on there.

IMO if you're not happy with the look then go ahead, switch the badges. I'm thinking about rebadging all of my gear with the old Ford V8 emblem!

Meh. I've got a Soldano logo on my Avatar guitar cabinet

Of course I'd never try to sell it AS a Soldano though.

I picked the Fender grill cloth and silver piping option cuz I liked the way it looked with my Fender Bassman head. The white Avatar logo just didn't look good with it. The plastic even has burrs all over it. Don't get me wrong. I like everything else about it.

That's just plain wrong. I'd put Harley-Davidson on it if it were me.

Why not just go all the way and take the Fender badge off of the amp and replace it with your own name?

If it really bothers you, I'd say call Dave at Avatar and tell him "I don't like your steenking badges!"

And ask when he plans to upgrade to something more formidable -
