I've only read good things.... And although amp modeling is not really my style, the versatility really draws me to this processor.

Does anyone have any experience with the bass sounds this thing produces? Also in terms of using it live for both guitar and bass would it be a viable option to use my bass amp as the power amp and my bass cab to reproduce the sound (of both guitar and bass). At least until I can invest in a real power amp and full range speaker system.

Thanks guys..... Kinda looking to get rid of my tube guitar amp

Check my YouTube page for a video of AxeFx on bass. You can get some pretty good results for bass but they really need more bass amp models. If you are primarily a bass player, I would get a used Ultra rather than springing for the latest version. I am considering upgrading in the future but I'm pretty satisfied at the moment. Regarding speakers, the NV412 is the way to go for an all in one cab solution. Crushes on guitar and bass. Get a beefy power amp and you are all set.

If you like the ampeg sound, the SVT model is pretty hard to beat.

I thought the original Ultra had some tracking issues with low notes, so the tuner, synth and pitch bending effects didn't work that well below G on the E string. I've been looking for reports on whether the new version has fixed that bass-discrimination.

Good question. I am on the waiting list for the II, and I sold my Ultra to fund it. Honestly, I wouldn't consider this for bass unless you play guitar too - at least not until they add some more bass amp models.
