Baby Blue ll crossover help

Sign in to disble this ad
do any of you amp gurus know how this is supposed to be wired? It looks like someone has bypassed the crossover and ran the 8s full range to bypass the blown tweeter.
I can see where the old wires were but don't know where which are in and out. thanks.

An inductor will be first in line on the LP, a cap first in line on the HP but you could still get it wrong. Could maybe try to reverse engineer it using the cap values, the coils look almost the same in the pic.

The coil in the front of the pic is a shunt between the first and second cap. Could it be 3rd order HP/1st order LP? May need some better pics and some description of which wires are coming in and going out.

Snapping a pic from the other end of it to see what that other coil is hooked up to and getting the cap values should be enough to figure it out.

On your second pic, where do all those wires lead? I'm guessing the left one is + coming in as it's attached to both a coil and a cap. The right 2 are - maybe? What about the black and blue in the middle? I'm now guessing it might be 2nd order both ways. The thicker guage coil should be on the lowpass and the thinner one the shunt on the high pass. The small cap should be on the highpass the bigger one the shunt on the lowpass but there's stuff hooked together there in about every possible combination. The middle black wire has a burn in the insulation from a solder iron tip, are those actually connected or just sitting there?

I got one from Don at Low Down sound. He had a ceramic magnet one for $19 or a neo version for $50-60.. I got the cheaper one. I suppose I could getbthe original Bag End driver re-done at some point but it sounds good as it sits now. next i will put some of the L-D-S long throw 8" speakers in it for the bigger bottom since it isn't stock anymore.
