Backline 600 - made in USA???

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently picked up a Backline 600 off of Craigslist for cheap, and have used it for a few rehearsals after giving it a good thorough cleaning... It was in pretty good condition, although a bit dirty - and had a couple of scratchy pots... I sprayed all the pots with a little Peavey Funk Out(same thing as Caig's De-Oxit), blew everything out with a little compressed air - and it's been fine ever since...

Anyways, I'll cut to the chase: I had always read these amps were made in China, but mine has the same "Made In USA" label my 700rb-II has... Is it possible that I have one of the 1st ones, and it actually IS made in USA, or is it mislabeled???

FWIW, I don't care where it was made - I think it's a good amp, especially for the $75 I paid - but am just curious... It also included a 4U rack, a DTR-2 Tuner, and a Raxxess 1U blank panel... I really didn't need it, but grabbed it because I had the money, and it'll be convenient to leave it at my rehearsal space...

A couple years ago, I fried my Backline 600 while it was stuffed into a 4u case with 2 Roland synth modules. You may not have that problem since your case has an empty space, but I'd advise keeping an eye on it or stick a fan nearby.

Call Lany Valdez at 209-234-7300 ext. 120. (9AM to 5PM PST), give her the serial number, she can tell you when it was made and if it was indeed made in the USA.
