Mine are s/n 80 and 81. But one stays in the car all the time ready for gigs, the other stays at home in the studio until it is needed for larger gigs. Then they are reunited.

During development of the Valkyrie, I spent a lot of time listening to the preamp through my Beyerdynamic headphones and really fell in love with the sound I was getting. Once we added the power section to the amp and I started playing through the my cabs, I just felt like something was missing. I couldn't hear that upper mid detail and grind I was used to hearing from the headphones. After some discussions with Bill Fitzmaurice, he suggested that I would probably have an easier time getting the sound I was after from a mid loaded design. So, I set out towards building some prototypes and immediately felt I was much closer to achieving the sound I was after. Once I settled on the right woofer from Eminence and tried the Faital mid, I knew that was it, the "Baer sound".

That mid is rated at 95dB, but that number doesn't tell the whole story. There's is a top end peak that reaches higher, plus that driver acts differently once it is crammed into a very small enclosure. Yeah, we could add some more filtering to the crossover, but I really like it where it's at. It's not ruler flat response, by any means, but I feel it works for live bass. I'm able to make most of my tonal changes with the onboard bass controls and right hand placement. As far as the mid being a too bright, I find that rolling off the vintage tone control on my bass a hair, puts the tone right where I want it. Personally, I don't get the concept that the amp has to be dead flat for the player to be happy. EQ is a very useful tool and the best cabs, IMO, are ones that are able to take a little tweak of the EQ and translate those changes onstage. The tone of your rig is always going to be dependent on the room it's in. That's where having a good EQ and cabinet that responds to it comes in handy.
Great way of thinking to create a sound you are after. I really have to try your cabinet one day. Factory Direct?

I am quite a cruel owner, one cabinet gets special treatment and lives at home with Daddy in a nice warm music room with a piano and Nordy for company. The other one is locked up in a cold dark room at church with all their pre historic, failing music gear!
I know they pine for each other, and do seem to get rather loud and emotional when reunited.
I think mine are 63 and 64.

Was doing some work in the studio and cranked a single up. These things get loud. Club hit tomorrow and I think I'm only going to bring one, should carry the lineup with plenty of low end. Impressive box.

So I listened to these real quick on laptop speakers the other day, but I took a few minutes through a good pair of ears to check them out today. The tone sounds great on this one in particular. The low end is fantastic! Very growly, full, but not in the least bit heavy or boomy. That mid growl is perfect IMO. Just enough high end to have the right presence. I know that MGS you are playing is not a bright bass, but is more mid oriented and to me that just works perfect in that mix. It projects very well. Good stuff and very nice playing!

Ha!
I used to make my malamute do that.
Mostly, he would.

Sometimes he'd get pissed and nip at me after a while.

Tonight's office. Went single cab and cranked it a bit. I think its closer to broken in now

Going through recordings now. A few train wrecks, but the high moment was doing Take Five. RIP Dave.

nope, just a plain ol' banjo. This band (nostatic) is about trying different approaches and space. Bit of an uneven night, but we're figuring it out. Baer was crankin'

First batch of ML212 crossovers sent out today, with the first small run of cabs hitting the production floor next week. We should be taking orders as soon as I can get the website updated.

Congrats Roger!

So, the ML212 and the '69er are soon to/starting to ship. Duke and Greenboy continue to pump out crazy new designs. Even the big boys are putting out a very nice showing of high quality gear these days.

2013 is going to be a ROUGH year for the wallets of bassists, but hey, someone's gotta save this economy.

You guys probably think I'm sitting here on the Baer order page with a credit card in one hand, while the other hand is hitting the refresh button over and over again, waiting for the ML212 option to appear but I'm totally not.

I mean... that would be insane.
