I spent half the day with my Baer pair, an Aggie TH500 and a GB SL900. I played through two different Skjolds and the cabs just sounded stellar. But let me say this.....I plugged in my new Dingwall ABZ 5, active/passive, Glockenklang pre.....holy mother of God......it was like magic with the 900 and the Baers. I just couldn't believe how good it sounded....I was giddy just listening to the combo together. Just incredible. And I have to say...it sounded great with the Aggie too, but great in a different Aggie sort of way. But that SL, Baers and that ABZ, seriously magic, pure magic.

And glad to hear you're digging the Dingwall (although I had no doubt you would!)! I bet that Midnight burst is sweet!
I am sitting here listening to Nostatic's clip "EM" and first off really nice playing NS. I always enjoy listening to your clips for the playing alone. I must also say, I have always been intrigued by Roger's cabs, and now based on the clip by NS and now your report as well Ken, I am feeling some GAS building! I am particularly intrigued by the 115, although I do like the Phat sound of the 12s as well.
I'm not surprised that Roger's cabs play well with the STL, given Ken Jung's previous posts to this and also just from what I know of each components characteristics. I might just have to grab me oneadeez and give it a spin!! |

I started talking to Roger about these at the end of September so I'm sooooo ready to rock one of these.

I've never played a TFunk prior to getting this at work Friday and bringing it straight to the gig, so I was curious and as objective as possible. Here's my tip of the iceberg impression: it was everything I love about my Puma and my Aguilar AG-500 in one, but with headroom to burn. I can tell it will be its own thing when I get more flight time with it.
This rig kills.
Set flat in the pretty neutral room we were in, it was heaven. Roger's secret sauce yields a cabinet with no hiss/air harshness, so the rig was thick and punchy and crystal clear with huge low end solidity all the way down to open B. Me and the drummer were smiling like kids on Christmas. Both basses I played that night, along with each of my pedals, showed well. It sounded like big iron should (but the whole thing weighs about 95 pounds). I felt large and in charge of the whole room, without PA support. As usual, the ML cabs put everything right in that sweetspot between the thud of the bass drum and the sizzle of the cymbals.
Add a touch of dirt, back off the passive tone, roll to the neck, and it's an 800 watt B-15. Go the other direction, and it's an Acoustic 360 through an 8x10. Either way, the G string always sounds thick and rich...a sibling of the other 4 strings, not an anemic cousin. Of the 4 amps I've put through this 2 x ML112 stack, this one has the most flexibility and gets me closest to my tone goals. It sounds absolutely massive with tons of headroom, zero breakup, and no low end compression. Of course, a major MAJOR portion of my happiness with this rig is the ML112s. They just sound so great on stage. In my 20+ years as a professional bassist, I've never come across a cabinet that hits me where I live like 2 ML112s do.
I used to run a Millennia TD-1 through a Bergantino IP112 + HT112ER. That was my previous best rig ever, and it is a true masterpiece of amp/speaker design. This rig is in that tone zone, but it's lighter, less expensive, easier to carry, and has the flexibility (and peace of mind) of NOT having a built in power section. IMHO, YMMV, and all that.
Baer + Thunderfunk =
